Owlie's Training Log

25 lbs is alot of weight for your first weighted dips. Good job!

So I finally decided to stop being a lazy asshole and took my belly for a run this morning. It wasn’t as horrible as I thought it was going to be. I’m going to keep up the running on Sundays(following my press day) and Thursdays(after bench press). I think the mistake I made in the past with running was trying to do it every day I didn’t lift, which I guess it fine for some, but I really don’t feel like fucking around on a treadmill when I’m sore from a heavy squat or dead lift workout the day before. Sore pecs don’t stop me from running though…which they are, very, by the way…makes me ecstatic to be honest. They haven’t felt this sore in awhile.

Also, general question here to anyone who feels like addressing it…

Should I add weight to chins for sets of 5 the same as with dips? I usually have just tackled chins by doing sets to failure, but I really haven’t been making gains this way. I’ve been thinking, if I can add weight maybe I should.

What kind of gains are you trying to make? Chances are the answer will be yes.

All kinds of gains. HUGE MASSIVE GAINS!!! GINORMOUS DELTS AND TRAPS!!! STRENGTH MUSCLE ARRGH!! hah, no really -specifically, in reference to the question, more body weight chin-ups and pull ups…so I guess, will doing weighted chins and progressively adding weight transfer to more body weight chins for a single set? I can easily do 9 chin ups for a set or 8 for a few sets across, but I’ve only been able to do 10 on one occasion at a lower body weight. I’d really like to do 10…then 15…etc…

I go back and forth and both weighted and bw have gone up. I do some variation of pullups every other day in the gym.

hiya owlie! =+)

definitely add some weight on those suckers.

killer dips. can’t imagine where u’ll be on those after a month or two. damn!

okay maybe I’ll try weighted dips. I can do 15 or so unweighted (I think I’ve done 20 once) so maybe I can do 5 with a plate – will have to see.

So, today was my squat deload day. Instead of doing the 3 sets of 5 I decided to do some low rep sets at weights closer to my max.
1x5 @135lbs
1x3 @165lbs
1x3 @205lbs
1 @225lbs
5x10 @115lbs

225lbs my previously tested 1RM, so I did that for one rep. 225lbs felt much lighter than I remembered it. I’m preparing to test an actual one rep max in the next couple of weeks.
Here are some videos I made

(i uploaded the 225)

hell yeah! killer squats… and even moar killer quads. love em! good work owlicious.

wow.

fucking strong! you can see your mucles through them pants - like D said owlicious.

Yeah, that’s hot.

haha I love owlicious! Its probably the most unexpected and creative “licious” wordoid I’ve seen used…ever…

OHP deload day-

When I woke up this morning my belly was in a squirrelly mood again so I decided to exercise it lest it rebel and mutate into a huge gut. I headed to the gym early to squeak in a jog and give my partner ample time to shit and shave his ass or whatever he does.

30 min jog at embarrassingly slow speed.
-I feel like a Goomba every time I jog and am always surprised when people don’t try to step on my head and squish me.

Then I kicked back and had an apple and some coffee whilst chatting with an elderly man.

Press:
1x5 @45lbs
1x5 @55lbs
1x5 @65lbs

Then some pull-up/chin-up action:
Pull-ups -bw x7
Chin-ups
1x5 with 10lb on weight belt
1x4 with 12.5lbs on weight belt
1x4 with 10lbs on weight belt
1x3 with 10lbs on weight belt-then immediately removed the belt and did 3bw chins
*I’ve never done weight chins before so this was largely experimental. Fun though! I had some oglers.

bbb OHP
5x10 @50lbs

barbell curls:
3x5 @50lbs
It was curl city over by the preloaded barbells. I always feel like a goofy bro when I get caught in the middle of curl city.

reverse grip curls
5x8 @30lbs
I KNOW I KNOW, but my forearms are the only place I can actually get a “pump” at this point and it feels good, so leave me alone!

Oh yea, people, I welcome feedback and critiques on my form if you have any. I’m not too sensi, I can take it.

great first go at the weighted chins! those are some sweet numbers. fun aren’t they??

apples and the elderly… ya can’t go wrong. lol

Ya they are. I won’t lie. They make me feel a little bit bad ass. I can’t wait till I can use a 25.

DAMN! 225 on that squat is ridic! Well done. And the chins. I’m more than just jealous. Owlicious indeed.

wow. 225 is my goal this year…your my hero!

Nice job

work on bringing you hips more

see how i am bringing hips and squeezing glutes. If you start doing this you will squat way more.

i would add in all sorts of glute and hammie work: pull throughs, RDL. Back Ex.

strech you hip flexors before you squat this will help you bring the hips …

When your warming up with lighter weight work on bringing the hips and squeezing glutes.

hope this helps and keep up the good work
