Opinions will vary, and this is just my opinion, man. I know the idea of the Olympics representing a bunch of amateur athletes from many countries has long been an illusion when skilled people migrate to wealthy countries and the Olympics is used to promote national pride, etc. But many Olympic athletes still work second jobs and pursue their passions living on “love and fresh water” with much sacrifice. It’s sometimes good to cheer for the underdog.
To some the Olympics is just entertainment, another stop on the Pro Tour. It is not for me to say millionaire elite athletes should or should not compete and many love that. But I prefer athletics or smaller events to ice hockey, tennis or basketball played by familiar all stars. Not saying the US basketball team isn’t great, or fun to watch. The second Serbia game was amazing. But how many fans watched South Sudan play Puerto Rico?
Steve Curry was amazing. But there is a reason this was his first O.
