itching to oust him asap to stop the fan pressure. Now they can take away his halo whilst wiping thier fingerprints from it all. They’ll give him a pitch fork for 6 months to a year, he may choose to come back and obliterate everyone but they’ll keep sensationalizing it in media… same story over and over again.
That very well may happen. Hammer’s Hammill (a UG poster who’s accurately predicted around 20 big events) claims that the UFC brass are tired of having to deal with the Reem. He also says Fedor could be making his way to the Octagon once M1 tanks (thread’s on the UG).
I can see their perspective. Book a fight against your biggest draw, he threatens the fight with that stunt he pulled involving his sick mom. Book a fight against your champ, he threatens it again with this failed test.
As a fan though, Reem getting cut sucks… really suck.
I’m going to float a wild theory here, for fun…
With the UFC growing like hell in Brazil these days, or so it seems at least- is it possible they didn’t want such an obvious defeat for Junior to happen?

Yes!
South American is still semi-American so a humble bad motherfucker from Amsterdam who basically has a big proverbial waiting for anyone that get’s in the ring with him cleaning up his show and making it hygenic will screw him.
Silva has already destroyed that division and with Overeem in the heavies, he’s left with not much else. Don’t see GSP losing to anyone either.
Basically he has the few baby weights and perhaps the light heavies and that’s all.
Overeem-Werdum.
Holy shit humble, you sure do like riding Alistair’s nuts, hahah.

I think the fight test was done in the UK, not the US, due to some complications - so yes, very fishy indeed. But ultimately, he got caught, end of story. To me, it is just inconceivable that fighter (considering the amount of physical work they do to be competitive) could gain muscle/joint/bone mass like he did over the course of a few years. I mean if he had spent the 3 years sitting on his ass eating taking short breaks to lift heavy weights, then maybe, but training as a fighter?
Do you know the history behind overeem? How he once fought as a light heavyweight? He would literally starve himself to get down to that weight. He routinely walked around at around 225lbs. hes always been a heavyweight. Just now, he doesn’t cut weight, he can eat what he wants, he can lift weights. How has he been passing tests for years now without ever getting caught? Forget pride, im talking all his recent fights in the us. against werdum, against rogers, against lesnar.
Yeah it’s funny that he didn’t just stay on the macdonalds at that time and DESTROY everyone in pride instead of keeping his weight low and getting beaten senseless by much bigger guys like Sergei Kharitonov. What is it with MMA folklore. Boxing has a much richer, more interesting and better recorded history. MMA’s history is being written by idiots on forums!
At the moment the fight is still booked, and it sounds like the Mir/Cain fight will happen regardless…
…I wonder if the UFC folks know something we don’t, or will be willing to put on a “spectacle” instead if Overeem can’t fight… like Fedor or Hunt or something that ignores the current #1 contender contenders.
i heard in the last few years he was using. what a dumb fucking donkey.
Maybe they’re hoping he can finagle a re-test and pass it this time around.

lmao, that and I can’t stand the bullshit Dana is spewing these days. All that solarium sitting must be frying his brains.
I was actually flabbergasted, no sarcasm.
He knew he was going to get 2 random tests in 6 months(part of his conditional license), yet he still fucks up something as easy to control as the t:e ratio.

Amen to that. I like the guy’s vlogs and the occasional interview, but holy shit he needs to pipe down. That FOX show makes it even worse.
Looks like the fight will be going through. Reem wasn’t a licensed fighter at the time of testing, so he can claim something like TRT treatment and agree to stop it if therapeutic use exemption is denied… on paper.
If not, I’d happily watch Mark Hunt fuck up Junior, lol.
oh the loopholes lmao. Fuck me the reem has some good lawyers on his side
Guess the man is as smart as he is big
. Hope it was nothing but a false alarm and the fight is still on…
Not gonna read through the whole thread but heres what i think.
No one is mad because Overeem’s a “cheater.” People are mad because they wont get to see the biggest possible HW title fight. To me this is an indicator that people are beginning to see steroid use in the sport as being an inherent aspect. If anything i’m mad at overeem for not being smarter about his steroid use and fucking up like this. You’d think a guy with the team and resources he has would have an endocrinologist that is available at all times to make sure this doesnt happen. Fuck.
The bottom line is that the guidelines on normal testosterone production vary so much depending on who you talk to that all one of these fighters has to do is claim symptoms of low test and they get a doctors note allowing them to basically take steroids.
Rampage said after the Bader fight that he was on TRT and felt like he was 25 again and the best he ever has. That’s not just making his Test normal for a 30 something male, thats what a steroid does to anyone. He also says he put on size because of it which made the weight cut hard…Forgive me if im mistaken but by most peoples standards he is a pretty muscular dude, the fact that he put on more weight that easily says a lot.
And i have a hard time believing that guys like Hendo and Rampage maintain the muscle mass they do without serious weight training with low testosterone. Some guys can train specifically for hypertrophy for years with low T and hardly gain anything.
Steroids and TRT are becoming the norm, the people who are being punished by the increased frequency of fighters pissing hot are the fans.
Sorry for the rant, this just sucks and im very frustrated right now. Yeah there’s other good fights at HW but what MMA fan wasn’t salivating over the idea of Overeem vs JDS for the title?
Im hoping that he goes before the commission and manages to convince them of some bullshit TRT scenario or something that lets the fight go through, but this is doubtful.
EDIT: just actually read some of the posts in this thread and it seems some of you guys have heard that due to technicalities, the fight will still take place.
Thank god.
Now if Overeem wins its gonna be awesome to read all the Sherdog threads about how he only won cause of ROIDZ

He’d better with the kind of dumb stuff he’s been caught in recently. If he can’t be smart, at least his lawyers can.
no one is talking about this manifesto?

That’s what being a celebrity is these days.

Damn it!
I think I am starting to retroactively root for Lesnar.
That has to be fake. Please tell me it is fake and Alistair didn’t actually pen
The Reem Wrote?
President Jintao cut me off, saying “Look, I know that becoming the-greatest-fighter-that-has-graced-this-planet-since-Bruce-Lee might not be that much of an incentive, but I didn’t get a chance to tell you about the female division of the program that we will be running within the same facility…,” and that was all that it took.

its a fake.
Maybe I could have let it go on for a while.
