Over-Developed Upper Chest?

Never seen an unbalanced chest due to upper pecs but in general the upper / lower balance seems to be a ‘genetic’ thing in so far as the overall shape of the pectoralis major is largely defined by your skeleton (obviously!).

The pectoralis minor might be factor, its a relatively small muscle under the upper/outer major pec so dips, which work it, might help give a wider thicker look, at least Vince Gironda thought so i believe, i’m not sure it would make all that much difference but dips are a mainstay chest/tri exercise.

i rate Dorian Yates seminar on chest building and he gives a good explanation on chest function and exercice form, he rates inclines and declines, if your interested a clip is below

Franco Columbo had one of the best upper to lower divisions ever IMO (of the older days)

Boom

Hmm pic didn’t work.

Franco was a freak though lol. He could hit poses that made his chest seem like it was cut into 3 separately divided sections.

Mistake, I tried to reply quoting this image and only the image came out… Anyway insane upper chest, almost like double boobs, but is this gyno on his right pec?

lol yeah it is, but you’ll run into that now n then with ANYBODY. I believe ronnie coleman had it when he was younger too.

didnt Prof X post a thread in T-Cell Alpha about it? Something like 60+% of men have/get gyno?

Mike Mentzer in his prime had unusually big upper pecs compared to the rest of his torso.

Mike Mentzer had a huge chest all around. I don’t think his upper chest was out of proportion with the rest of his chest.

Anyway, that franco pic is damn insane. There was one video of him benching with Arnold, he stopped casually with a 140kg bar resting on his chest, then after 3-4 seconds just pushed it again up.

I wouldnt say out of proportion, but his chest (and torso as a whole) never quite seemed to match his arms and legs in terms of size. And his over all chest size never matched Franco, Arnold or Lou IMO, but he seemed to have better upper pecs than than most. I think the majority of his chest movements were incline.

Johnnie Jackson has a pretty big upper chest as well, but not overdeveloped in comparison to lower, imo.

^^That Jackson pic is sick. Amazing physique

.greg.

Jackson has a badass physique for sure, but I never understood how he managed to have such an amazing chest, while simultaneously appearing to have lagging triceps. Thats like having GINORMOUS quads and lagging calves.

Are his tris considered a weaker area? Seems to have the necessary shape and fullness though maybe not as pronounced as some others. Chest is balanced though, as noted

^ at work so I can’t view the video you posted, but check out this pic. Look at his tris, then look at his chest. His tris look like they belong to someone else.

He has high insertion points which don’t help, but the overall fullness of his muscle belly in his tris seem to be seriously lagging in relation to the rest of his body.

I don’t think its possible, not because an upper chest can’t be relatively over developed, but because the more over-developed it is the better it looks (eg Franco Columbu).

Unless you literally had someone who stimulated ONLY their upper chest for years while neglecting everything else.

Lateral head has poor attachment, not much he can do about that though…
