LMAO at the post title. “Our European Ancestors.” Do you go around refer to non-whites as “you people”?
“Non-whites” is a political term, not a scientific one. Most “African-Americans”, for example, have significant European ancestry (somewhere around 20 percent, on average). Hispanics average higher. One can have mostly European ancestry (and excellent lactose tolerance) and still be tagged “non-white”, at least in the United States.
With that nod to factual accuracy done with, I return y’all to your debate.
First, where are these statistics from? Second, since when is “20%” the same as “significant”? Third, isn’t Spain a part of Europe?

Our European Ancestors & Milk is a fine title to this thread. Your not ‘bad’ or whatever, lol. Don’t apologize for a thing. Europeans/Whites are number one in my book. It would be nice to see them start breeding again, and maybe standing up for themselves.
Of course people like californialaw and prof x are very intimidating. I guess having the likes of them frighten you into changing your thoughts and apologizing for acknowledging your heritage is understandable. According to the media whites are weak and dumb and bad, so its probably better to run away yelling ‘I’m sorry’ over your shoulder.

Worst post of the thread. No one “frightened” him based on acknowledging HIS OWN heritage. It was pointed out to him that we all don’t share THE SAME heritage. That must have simply flown right over your head. How tall are you again?

I’m quite sure that no one was seriously deriding this guy for the “Our” Ancestors title. I think they were just having a little fun. If the OP is overly sensitive to offending people, its just him being weak-knee’ed. Lighten up, there aren’t any PC police around here.
I already wrote that I didn’t think it was intentional. Some people are just a little “slow”.
I’m delighted that for the second time this week I’ve seen people pointing out on T-Nation that raw milk isn’t necessarily all that fantastic. It seems to be a buzzword on this site, along with V-Diet etc. I really wonder how many people who tell us all about its virtues know why we pasteurise milk.
That being said I do agree the chances of getting sick from raw milk are reasonably low. As an aside my housemate grew up on a farm where they drank the raw milk but after an outbreak of Brucellosis on the farm they had to stop.

Somebody, I’m not sure who, said that Cro-Magnon man had larger brains than modern humans. I believe that he may mean neanderthal man, which may have gone extinct because their brains became so large the infants had trouble passing through the birth canal without damage. Not to shift the focus, but has anybody else heard the theory that white/European people in general may be the result of small-scale hybridization between Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man? Some theorize that what we think of as european physical features(blonde/red hair, long noses, pale skin) may be neanderthal in origin.

Yes, I have heard that and I BELIEVE that I also read that this theory has recently been refuted. Will have to check to verify that.
Unless you have a 100% clean cow, be wary of the “bad” stuff in raw milk. It is not like they thought pasteurization was something cool to do, it is done for a reason.

I dont know enough about the raw vs. pasteurized debate to make an intelligent decision. I dont drink the stuff raw or otherwise, so it’s a moot question in regards to me. I do know if Poliquin had posted today about why you should eat raw butter as opposed to pasteurized stuff, people would be turning flips to show their support for raw butter!
However, I would not assume that just because there are laws or govt agencies reenforcing certain things that we should automatically assume that it is good for us. For example, look at the food pyramid that the FDA puts out. Then, too, think about all the antibiotics and shit preservatives they put into food. Why is pot illegal but a really dangerous drug “SUGAR” legal and ubiquitous?
Putting preservatives and antibiotics into food may have been done with the best of intentions, but look at the outcome.
I am not saying the pasteurization of milk is good or bad (I dont know) but let’s not assume that it’s GOOD just because it’s THERE and THEY say it’s good…because sometimes THEY are bought off by somebody that has financial interests in the whole thing.
I do value the opinion of the folks over at the Weston Price Foundation and here is what they have to say on the subject of pasteurized vs raw milk:

Interesting genetic anthropology article in Scientific American about
lactose intolerance. About those 20 rep squats accompanied by lots of milk…I’ll just do the squats and you can keep the milk.
Your post is highly flawed. The lactase is the enzyme your body produces to digest milk. Lactose is a non harmful sugar which, if undigested, will cause diarrhea through increased bacterial action in your large intestines. (Look up Lactulose for a commercial laxative that takes advantage of this effect by bonding lactose to a glucose molecule making it indigestible to even lactose tolerant individuals)
That said, if it doesn’t cause you diarrhea DRINK IT UP. Notice that from the article: “There’s pretty good evidence that it’s the most strongly selected single gene variant in Europeans in the last 30,000 years.” Why do you think that’s so? BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU A MONSTER ABLE TO DEFEAT ALL THE MILK NAYSAYERS!!! Milk it does a body good.

Actually Cro Magnons, while fully “modern” did have a higher brain volume than the modern average, they were actually taller too, I seem to remember. Keep in mind that as group that had only “recently” immigrated from Africa they still had the long limbs/height of the tropically adapted hominin, as do many of us still today.
It takes a very strong environmental selection and time to produce short stocky “races” like the Neanderthals (think modern Inuit as the closest thing in modern terms). As to the Neanderthal/modern hybridization theory, this has been largely disproven though still contested by some holdouts in paleoanthropology.

I’ve heard similar stats thrown around before. While it wouldn’t suprise me if true, I am legimately interested in any research that has actually been done in this regard. “Race” is such a hot topic in popular culture as well as for real study that researchers as a whole tend to avoid it like the plague.

Don’t mess with Texas, right? Hey, I’ll help you out. Not only am I a milk hater from California. I am a liberal, san francisco, anti-war milk hater. You know, the kind that voted in the EVIL Nancy Pelosi. Hell, I dont even beat up gays like good, decent, conservative Christian folk do.
You might be interested to know that I am originally from the South.
Truth is, I’m not a milk hater. Like I said, if you are lactose tolerant, go for it.
