Optimal Vitamin D Level?

I’m wondering if there’s an optimal vitamin d level, especially for guys on TRT. I’m assuming age has something to do with what levels are deemed optimal? I’m on TRT and doing my best to eat right and exercise, sleep, lift weights, etc. 47yr old.

I used to be deficient and then low normal, to which the dr told me “you’re fine as long as you’re in the norm”.
I’ve been taking 5000iu per day for the past year and will test this week.

Well, theres this:

Well, here we go again…

5000 IE is more than 10 times the recommended daily intake!

Rhethorical questions:
Is vitamin D a magic solution to any health related issue?
What is a healthy supplementation for ANY individual?
When is it too much?
What is a dangerous dosage?
What can happen then?

Please find the answers to these questions as I leave no further comments on that.

When you supplement with vitamin D, in normal doses 400-800 IE, there is NO need to do any bloodtesting. Why? Well, you are already adequately supplemented. And… as @SkyzykS pointed out in that article - No one is quite sure what the test result actually mean.

Shall we talk about hypothyreosis type II now?

On my last physical to my family doctor I asked her to check my vitamin D levels, due to my concern at my age (73) of COVID consequences. The sample was taken on December 11, 2021. I was taking 4,000 I.U. of vitamin D3. Also, I get very little direct sunlight.

My blood level vitamin D was 52 ng/mL, where the reference range was 30-100.
Deficiency: < 20 ng/mL
Insufficiency: 20 -29 ng/mL
Optimal: > or = 30 ng/mL

Actually, there are many who have absorption problems when it comes to Vitamin D and others. So that particular statement isn’t true. And therefore need higher doses to even reach a certain level.

But your prior statements are well taken.
