Oprah's Encounter With Racism

JP, you do understand that X will never stop, right?

Even if you make relevant arguments and complete sense and what he says is completely unfounded, he will continue to press your buttons, regardless. It can be just you or a goup of 30 people. I’ve witnessed it a number of times over the years.

It gets him off. It has to. So, really, if you think about it, right now you’re jerking him off over the internet. Just thought you’d like to know.

Wow.

Many other people in this thread seem to understand me just fine without all of this.

What is wrong with you and "friends"?

Why is expecting a high end retail employee to treat you like a king or queen for 30 mins acting unkindly to others?

I like to eat at Del Frisco’s. You know what? Outside of the fantastic food, they kiss my ass and I pay them well for it.

I work for my money, I’m not going to not enjoy myself because someone else doesn’t have it. Shit, I’m actually helping the world by spending my money.

And I do hope not a single person complaining about O owns an iPad or iPhone…
Well said.

Apparently she isn’t the one who even called him “racist”.

I think this story is a whole lot of the media making something out of a situation that was far more sinister than the actual situation was.

By throwing “racism” in the title of the story people would react and be far more likely to read than if they had simply said “Clerk is a Snob to Oprah”

She strikes me as an old school betty that isn’t about to take shit from anyone, nor make excuses for shit. I don’t see her calling it racist unless she 100% thought it was. She doesn’t need to market herself as a victim.

So because she didn’t call it that, I tend to err on the side of the employee just didn’t do their job.

Such is life in the 24 hour news cycle. Sort of like the rodeo clown in Bam mask being called “racist”, but apparently comparing Bush43, hilariously, to a chimp was perfectly within reason.

People are lazy and don’t want to think anymore. (Or ever I guess.)

I just mainly can’t believe this is considered news. It baffles me there is nothing better for the media to be reporting on.

I have. My grandmother was half Cherokee. These people lived in a jungle. Quite the difference from the landscape of the average Indian Reservation.

But, the fact is that at one point in my life I lived below the poverty line…the world poverty line. Though to be honest, I only crossed the American poverty line this passed month.

Got a million on my mind while I’m brushing my teeth. Say the hustler’s prayer, then I’m back to these streets. I gotta go to work.
I am glad for you…but what I witnessed I have not seen in this country.

Those people walked for days just to see American doctors, most never having been to one in their lives.

Most didn’t have shoes to wear.

No, I seriously doubt any Americans have lived like that without being homeless.
Now that we’ve played the poor game. What’s our next step.

Countingbeans. Countingbeans agreed with you. Just like in the Trayvon thread. It's really no surprise. Other than that, not many people have in this thread. Plus, I don't care to "outdo" you. Are you a child? Stop acting like one. This isn't a pissing contest. Why isn't it acceptable to just have a thread where people give their opinions without you making it into a debate?

We actually disagreed about a lot in that thread. However, it was done in a way as not to spiral any conversation into oblivion.

Please return to conversation and answer my question.

She should be grateful she has to travel that far to encounter racism these days.

the irony…

Regardless of how ridiculous her purse purchase is, the racism is still the worst part of this story. Most idiots wouldn’t get it unless they faced this shit every day of their lives. Racism sucks.

I mean, she’s fucking Oprah, and some retarded racist refused to take her money? What a fuck tard.

Edit: and the clerk wasn’t just being a dick; what other reason would they assume she couldn’t afford it in a westernized culture? Hmmm…

Because she was wearing a t-shirt, skirt and flip flops. I am pretty sure that if I walked into a store like that with jeans, a T, and flip flops on that they probably would assume that I couldn’t afford the 38000 purse as well. Elitism yes, Racism no.

I’m pretty sure other celebs don’t shop in extravagant outfits… statistics would help here.
'Cuz paparazzi is a bitch.

I’m saying that it was less likely that she was denied for being in a t-shirt and more likely because she was black. I mean, even in america, you have to assume that about 30% of people are racist, and almost none of those people are overtly racist (I’d say at most 10% of the 30% pool depending on your area). In other countries, the percentage goes up for both since it’s acceptable to be overtly racist in other cultures. I would do the hard research for you right now, but I’m lazy as hell.

Stop referring to anyone who doesn’t agree with you as “they”. It’s just an attempt to ruffle feathers, and you know it. I can honestly say that I don’t go out of my way to complain about you “posting anything at all”. I have agreed with you on a number of topics in the past. It just happens to turn out this way a lot of the time because, for the most part, I very much disagree with the way you handle things and the amount of bias seen in your posts.
