One Song All Session Long

Dream Theater - As I Am
Susperia - Devil May Care
Pagan’s Mind - Resurrection

shoot, i’ve even listened to “Wait for Sleep” by Dream Theater for an entire lifting session. Something about that ballad just helps me focus

I stick with one song or a repeated playlist because if the song changes too much, I begin to think about the lyrics or how I would like a different song.

Thinking during workout == Bad. I generally dont try as hard (physically) when I’m in thought.

I’ve never done it before. If I did, it would have to be a techno song though, like this:

I’ve listened to Down’s - “bury me in smoke” or “eyes of the south” for a whole leg session yeah.

Funny, when i’m lifting heavy i put on the good metal and when i’m just going for the pump i put on some good hip hop.

Why is that?

Don’t usually do it, but I’ve done it to a number of songs before. When you feel it, you feel it.

Sleepwalker–possibly the most malicious song I’ve heard, ever. Mustaine really knows how to write angry lyrics. Look them up while you listen to the song. - YouTube

Psychosocial–squat and deadlift. That is all. - YouTube Don’t like watching the video; i just listen to the song.

Dream Theater–Home. For some reason just really hits right. The slow build during warm ups, then the catastrophic ending. Significantly “darker” if you get the subject matter they’re talking about and the implication here, but that’s part of a concept album so may not apply.

Other DT songs too-- Acid Rain (technically a side project song). It’s like jamming an Epipen into your leg if you don’t need massive quantities of base in your metal. - YouTube

There’s a live version of the guys playing some small show in Japan I think, it’s ridiculous how fast their hands move.

Several songs off of …And Justice For All have been repeated as well, along with Hand of Doom by ManOWar - YouTube It’s either really cheesy or really awesome depending on how the person listening to it likes Viking references. I go with really awesome.

I’ve never listened to the same song for an entire workout, but I do have different mixes for leg, chest, back day… helps me get into a groove and keep track of time.

The past few weeks I’ve been finishing up my squats with 1 set of high rep squats (16-20) and I always listen to the same song during it – Glassjaw ‘Stuck Pig’. I usually go ape shit for a couple seconds, but about half way through the set I’m not paying attention to the music anymore.

I could only do it if it’s like techno or something monotonous like that.
Maybe this song:

Brokencyde-Get Crunk

Hilarious and awesome at the same time. Not for everyone but I have listened to it for the entire session many times.

Wow. That song is an epic workout song, despite brokencyde being crap. I think I could go a whole workout on that.

One more i could listen to

Knights of Cydonia - Muse

Pastor Troy-Vice Versa

Deftones- 7Words
DMX- Who We Be

2pac - Hail Mary

I’ve listened to this an ENTIRE lifting session and jogging several miles. On repeat. Made me feel like Iron Mike Tyson. (Sweatshirt with hood on absolutely key while running, to get the whole Mike Tyson Heavy Weight Champion of the World Vibe going.)[/quote]

i prefer to eat someones children preworkout

then step on their testicles.

“Move for Me”, Deadmau5 & Kaskade
“Aenima”, Tool
“Death Goes to the Winner”, Harvey Milk

Among others. I tend to rotate songs a lot as I get bored quickly.

I do this all the time. Usually when I’m bored with all other songs. More frequently I’ll go with just 2 songs.

Coheed and Cambria: The Suffering
Pearl Jam: Evenflow
INXS: Don’t Change
Judas Priest: Rock Hard Ride Free
Nelson: Can’t Live Without Your Love and Affection
Scorpions: No One Like You
Queensryche: Close to You
Red Rider: Lunatic Fringe

If there could only be one song?

Dig by Mudvayne.

It’s one of my prep phrases I say in my head when I get ready to lift too.

“c’mon-mutherfucker DIG”

Disturbed - Get Psycho (Meaning of Life)

I don’t usually listen to music while I’m training.

Sweat+Ipod/phone = Water damage

Cher - Believe (just gets me wanting to move around)

Cheapshot & Jubacca - PPR Kut (Linkin Park remix of Paper Cut… on their cd Reanimation… fucking sick… some of the best rapping I have ever heard…)

Clint Mansell - Requiem for a dream (Instrumental… but intense)

Stemm - 13 years

Children of Bodom - Living Deadbeat

Disturbed - Down With The Sickness
Disturbed - Hell

Dr.Dre - Murder Ink (lol… gets me so angry it’s ridiculous… great for training though)

I’m notorious for this. It creates a cool atmosphere… where nothing matters but me, the bar, and our struggle…

Not for an entire workout, but I am known to repeat “Fever Dream” on the 300 soundtrack several times in a row.

That and “Feuer Frei!” by Rammstein.
