He deserves 6 years in a TURKISH prison! What a goddamn bully!
This man clearly has some anger issues. I’m pretty sure prison won’t cure his anger, but I suppose we just live in a world where revenge equals justice… =/

Well, lets say he is a product of his environment, O.K.?
Perfect! There is a place called Prison, constructed just for him and others like him. There he is free to mingle with other like him and they can relate to each other and express themselves as they are accustomed to.
You want to deprive him of that?

People live in la la land. I fully expect if I hit you that you’re going to fall. If you fall, there is no control HOW you will fall, and that’s the problem.
Yes, but what is the realistic percentage people that have ever thrown a punch that was even hard enough to knock someone out or drop them to the ground?

It’s not how hard you hit - you just gotta “push the button” correctly. For someone standing there relaxed, just about anyone could knock him out if he knew the spot and the angle - like this jerk off did.

So is no one guilty anymore? Is haveing “anger issues” a permanent excuse for not behaving like a law abiding citizen or even an adult? Is he entitled to a “cure” as you put it? Prison is a place to keep the scum away from decent people, not to CURE THEM!!

I don’t even get why Ryuu considers going to prison to be “revenge”. Revenge would be someone punching and killing him.

I just chalk that up to being “internet smart”.

No doubt, but again I don’t really know anyone except people who box and train that know where to hit someone.

Yeah, sorry, I have a job. I can’t monitor and respond 24hrs a day.
Where to start. This whole situation is unfortunate. This guy is a douchebag. No question. Anyone who would just outright waylay somebody like that for little to no reason is not a normal human. However, I really don’t think he deserves all the guff you’re giving him. He had no intention of killing this guy, that seems to be accepted by all parties, but you guys are still treating him like he KNEW he would kill this guy with one punch.
And yeah, I know, he bragged about having a ‘killer punch’. You really think he expected that he could kill a grown man with a single punch? You don’t think ‘killer’ could have just been a poor choice of adjective? I really don’t get how a boxer, or ex-boxer or whatever, bragging about his punching power IN A BAR furthers a case against him.
Also, I’m not arguing the charge, he got manslaughter, according to law, that’s what he deserves. I just think you guys are addressing him more as a cold blooded murderer than some douche who made a prick move and accidentally cost a guy his life.
Like I said, the whole thing is an unfortunate situation, which was 100% avoidable. Shit like this is exactly why I’ve never been to a bar in my life.
I’m sure some of you guys will still flame the shit out of me, go ahead. Truth is, nobody is gonna change anybodies opinion. You think your way, and I think mine.
Oh, and some of these analogies are hilarious, albiet retarded and erroneous. Keep 'em comin.

The term would be fair if he did 6 years.
He’ll be out in about 3, I bet. If he was drunk and there were a few of them acting up looking like they were gonna smash him, then yeah… I’d have hit one of them sucker punch style and ran off. He had the luxary of stepping into that group of people to get a better shot off, where he could get a good clean punch through. Sets his feet quite nicely.
In the article it says that he got 6 plus 3 years probabtion, so I believe that means he must at least finish his term.
I know a few people who’ve had simmilar sentances under those conditions and still got out early, you’ll be amazed at some sentances in England.
wow. fucking british justice. the problem is we allow alcohol to be used as an excuse for violence. they blame it on people drinking too much. “booze britain”. but i blame it on soft laws. if they fuckin punished people more severely for alcohol related violence, then i bet less would happen.
nobody fears the consequences, so they get a bit drunk and take out their insecurities and troubles on some poor bastards face. in my home town there was a high profile case involving a rugby player. he was caught on camera, 3 on 1, kicking the fuck out of a guy repeatedly. the guy was done and they kept at him. gave him all kinds of injuries that required surgery. he got off with community service. he was drunk. had a hard time in iraq (he’d served).
and fuck me, some of you worry me. the guy is a trained boxer. this guy had to know he was gonna do some serious damage. that was a hell of a shot AND the guy had his hands down in a completely non-confrontational stance! people cracking their heads and dying in street fights happens all the time. if u dont realise this before getting into a street fight, then maybe ur dumbe enuff and dangerous enough to deserve a prison sentence.

You are currently experiencing what’s known as a “Serious Disconnect From Reality”.
No one here is arguing that he should have known ahead of time what DID happen, but rather what COULD have happened. What his intent was is totally immaterial here, since his actions carried an explicit potential for death. Just because he wasn’t aware of what his intentions could lead to means NOTHING here. Ignorance is not an excuse. This is a perfect example of gross criminal negligence.
And I think “killer” is the best, most accurate adjective to use since uh, that’s what his punch did.
Nobody here is treating him like a cold-blooded murderer. We’re all treating him like a grossly ignorant person whose ignorance led to the death of an innocent man. It’s called the Reasonable Man Standard. The reasonable man is expected to be able to comprehend that IF he is a trained boxer, and IF he brags about his punching skills in a manner that suggests he is fully aware of the inherent danger in his fists (regardless of what adjective he uses to describe this punching ability) and IF he punches someone, then he should be cognizant of the possible outcomes of his actions, including death. He acted unreasonably, and when unreasonable, ignorant actions that lead to death are defended in the name of ignorance, which is exactly what you’re doing, then you’re going to get lit up by everyone on here.
Yeah, it was manslaughter. He didn’t intend to kill the guy, but he did so recklessely; recklessness in this sense meaning that he showed disregard for the dangers of his actions. It was enough that he intended to cause serious bodily harm.
See, you don’t have to KNOW that you’ll kill the person, but if a reasonable man can forsee that he might die as a result of cracking his head on the pavement (I believe a trained boxer could probably tell that cold clocking someone would knock them out and send their skull crashing into concrete) then you are culpable.
Drinking is not a defence in any sense. People need to get that fucking idea out of their hands.
Sad, sad story.

It isn’t so much about him hitting the pavement and his claim about having a “killer punch” shouldn’t hold any weight here AT ALL.
If you get into a small altercation and hit someone in the head soft enough that they don’t even act injured…but they then go home and die of an internal brain hemorrhage 12 hours later, you can be held on charges of involuntary manslaughter if your punch is later found on autopsy to be the cause of the bleed.
I do not agree with the judge using that statement as if the punishment should be more severe. It shouldn’t. This could happen to ANYONE whether you are a skilled fighter or not…one more reason guys in MMA look retarded for acting like they can beat everyone up.
Him being a douche shouldn’t matter here. He was drunk and picked a fight…something a shit load of people do every weekend because alcohol makes you do dumb shit.
But that’s because you’re not retarded, bushy.

What does it matter that a shit load of people pick fights when drunk every weekend? A shit load of guys rape/molest their children or other victims. I still believe everyone of these sick fucks belong into the gas chamber/electric chair.
Just because it’s a common behavior doesn’t make it any less despicable.
And the alcohol argument is complete horse shit. I can drink a fifth of vodka over the course of a night and STILL know that it’s wrong to pick fights/rape, etc.
Not being able to behave while drunk makes you TWICE the asshole and should lead to a higher sentence.
