Isn’t it this kind of attitude that will prevent BB from ever becoming remotely mainstream again, and not the taboo and PERSONAL semantics of the competitors? By attitude I’m referring to the fact of predetermined outcomes based on popularity and personality instead of just who has the best physique based upon agreed upon criteria.
If the IFBB really has a problem with his extracurricular activities they should bar him from competing at the Mr. Olympia. Don’t let him compete with false aspirations that he thinks he can win when in reality he can’t. Even if he knows that, what is he supposed to do? Quit bobybuilding? He hasn’t done anything illegal.
Funnily enough, the stuff Kai has done is so out there it actually is less of a problem as other possible “misdemeanours.” Audio of Kai making prejudice or offensive statements would be more harmful from a PR perspective in my opinion because more people would accept it. As I think I established in my previous post, not a lot of people are actually going to watch these pieces of “visual evidence.” A “Kai Greene Exposed” thread with pics and vids isn’t going to get a lot of clicks.

I can guarantee you, if he were ever to win the O, the images and videos of what he’s done in the past would receive FAR more attention than they do now…

Chris Dickerson is gay, and I doubt you’ll find anyone saying he was less than a respectable representative for the sport. Judged solely on his physique, it was simply a bonus that he was educted, well spoken, a trained opera singer, all things that created a well rounded persona.
Kai’s story of being a ward of the state (is this the correct term?) certainly made for some great PR when he first turned pro. However, his continuing to live off of the money of tax payers for years on end has crated some animosity from various online posts and comments I’ve seen on several different sites. Once you’re in the spotlight, everything comes to the surface.
Dickerson, Paris, there have been plenty of top level pros who were gay, and decided (were convinced) to keep it under wraps, but Kai’s background certainly isn’t going to be a plus in attracting new people to the sport, no matter how great a physique he may present. It’s not like the powers that be haven’t fudged things behind the scenes before.

Give me a break. The If kai wins the O, this information is only going to explode, and be brought to more peoples attention. Its not a gay or straight thing, its about good and bad PR.

I want Heath to lose too. Theres no denying he deserved the win in 2011 and while some would argue Kai deserved it last year, Heath was still a deserving winner. But overall his physique is just so uninspiring to me compared to past winners like Yates, Coleman, and even prime Cutler.
If Kai’s conditioning is spot-on, he deserves it. I think Jay back in his prime would easily take the O again but he’s obviously not looking on pace to show up like that, and im pretty sure he’s only really competing this year to help continue marketing his brand and keep up appearances.
