Old School Log

Good stuff, G1.

Not a problem Cav, and thanks.
Thanks James and PG, appreciate the nice words.

Just wanted to say thanks for logging. As a fellow 198’r you’re an inspiration. The only thing I have on you is a few years and a long road ahead to get even close to your numbers. Hope you keep posting here.

Well thanks but i find it even easier now to humble since i didn’t medal in the open last month. That will put a spark in my butt for a while.
I was there play by play lol. Need to set up a system where i can give you cues right during your set lol. Spotting…that would be tough though lol. And you are welcome. It was exciting.

You trying to make it more exciting for us by making your log all cryptic ? hehe

Just catching up on your log GO. Excellent stuff and congrats on your results at the meet. Sorry about your hip though.

We had a please stay G1 petition going around, seems to be working.

Hey Up, i better send you the decoder sheet so you can figure out next weeks workout…lol.
Thanks Late, hip is getting there!
Hey dday, your too funny!!! Hope you are well!

Legs today.
Good news is hip is getting better bad news is knee on that side has been swelling. Personally i think it has to do with getting rid of the little shift i had when squatting which has let to a little more work on that side of my body which is saying whoa, I’ve been coasting for a while, you make me work and I’m gonna get angry.
So i decided to work my template back wards starting with what i would do last and see if i could get to the what i normally would do first, i would either be really warm-up or knee blown up!
Warm-up took 15 min w/o foam roll or stretch. Those can take a few min or more depending on knots, etc.

Multi hip machine 2x12 E
SL Curl 3x12 alt legs no rest
SL Ext 3x12 alt legs no rest
SL Press 3x12 alt leg no rest
Step-ups (just bar) 15" box 3x12 no rest
Slit squat (dowel) 3x12 alt leg no rest
SL Squat no wt 3x12 alt leg no rest
Though about squatting for a sec but went to power squat and did the hack squat on it. Had to stay uniform that way. 3x12 90 sec rest
So all in all got a good leg workout, knee feels as good or better than pre workout, more mobile and no additional swelling. Just had to take what i could get today and hope to be back to squats next week.

Sled drags today
8x3 min forward drags, 2 min rest interval.
Quads were nice and sore today!

Nice work. I’ve become a real fan of the sled drags. Do you crouch or do you stay pretty upright?

james

Good stuff G1. Just don’t blow the knee, can’t imagine you’d like that.

Hi James, i stay upright with a forward lean and try to walk pretty fast long strides, drive arms a bit. Have a big circle i drag in so its non stop, don’t have to turn around lol!

lol ddayyourut 100% right, wouldn’t be good.

Todays lift was a fun one! Felt good to move fast lol, in theory!
Mobility warm-up
Snatch grip jump shrug from rack (mid thigh) 5x5
Snatch grip high pull from rack (mid thigh) 5x5
Muscle snatrackfrom rak (pocket) 5x5
Push press behind head 5x5
KB row 3x10
BB Row 3x10
Lying tri to bench 2x10 1x8

It is fun to move things fast!

its a trick for old people to feel all spry.

I like that leg session too- I am fighting off some patella tendonitis
so need to do some similar programming

Great stuff in here as usual, the vids of the meet were picture perfect, amazing weights lifted. Happy your still giving your log a go. Thanks again for all the advice and info.

Its funny you say this Kev, I actually just decided to rock the 10 day split myself - now that I’m training a bit more aggressively I want to stave off any tendonitis in my bum knee as that’ll complicate my rehab in the long run. I think this kind of split gives my knee enough time to chill-out between leg sessions.

I’m so excited! So thanks for the inspiration German! Now I have 10 days of training to plan out, lol!

And sorry to hear about your knee G! Hope it settles down.

Great training as always. Might steal that SL session from ya

That’s the truth kevin, makes ya feel almost athletic again lol.
Thanks Matty, i have to catch up o your log. Seems like i barely have time to update mine lol.
Hey Maschy! I’ll be interested to see how that works for ya. That leg workout was light but i sure did get sore from it lol.Knee is headed in the right direction, thanks.
