I could not get within 20 feet of any serious leg equipment today. This called for being inventive.

As always you’re looking strong. 200 reps of leg press should get it done.

If I am ever asked what I do for bench, I think I will reply I have no idea. I just do the crazy crap Robbie tells me. I had planned on doing something totally different, then he changed things up. I can’t argue with the results, because my bench has never been better.

225 for 20 reps was tough for the last couple. I was already a little tired. He told me to do 15, but I went for more. I could feel some tightness on my left shoulder at 16, but plowed ahead.

After I was done, I assisted my friend who has a bench only meet in three weeks. It’s his first, so he’s pretty excited.

There was no life in the legs this morning. The workout called for 460 x 2, but getting one was a real struggle. I dropped down to 445 to try that twice, but that was a struggle too. I’ll just repeat the whole thing next week.

Benching 225 x 20 reps could get you a tryout with the NFL. Seriously.

If I wasn’t really slow and old.

As I turn 47 today, I need to evaluate where I have been and where I want to go. Onward and upward.

I started deadlifting at 47 and did my best (495) at 48. Trust my experience, you’ve got a LOT of really good lifting years left. You’ll see.

I bring my stuff on leg day just in case squats work out. Again, they did not today. Still, my legs are pretty drained after that.

As I am now officially an old guy, I find it easier to get up at 4:30 to train. Of course I also hit the sack at 9:00. In a couple of years I’m sure the early bird special at Dennys will be in my bag of tricks too. Since I am cheap I already order off the senior menu at some places.
