Old Guy Strength

So bench and deads, no squats??? Is the bench raw?
Seems like a long wait between lifts, that kind of ruins the groove. That’s a strong bench regardless mate, great work.

I only do push / pull meets. My squat sucks.

You prepared well for that meet. 370 is a strong bench, and a 4th lift at 501 is really good for meet conditions. Some bad luck with that left side, especially so for a lefty. Maybe spend a little time polishing that impressive trophy and sword collection you’ve amassed from your meets.

You’ve also got one more meet under your belt which is far more than most guys on here.

I’m with Biker; your strong where your strong, and working on the rest.
We should all be so lucky :)…
Onward and Upward friend.

That long lifting day/schedule sounds miserable to me.

Thanks fellas. There is still plenty of work to done. It was a very long day. We decided to go home afterward, since we are spending about half the month in hotels (we’re leaving town Friday for a week). Therefore I got home at about 2200 that night. I move up an age bracket next year, so there are new challenges. I really don’t have any cool videos, but my wife made me pose for this stupid picture.

Well good. Your writeup didn’t give the impression that you got some great stuff for your collection.

Just stay the course and challenges will be minimal. We’re all proud of you.

I didn’t really want to work any large muscle groups today, since I am still a little sore. I hit the arms pretty hard. I’ll be off for a while to recover. My wife and I leave for Nashville for a conference on Friday. We’ll be gone for a week. It will be a good chance to rest up and get well again.

It was nice to be back after 10 days off. I had a conference in Nashville this week, so my wife and I left a few days early to enjoy ourselves. I don’t normally drink, but I ate and drank (a lot) for a solid week. We got hit with some of Harvey’s rains, but were able to fly back west yesterday with no problems.

It was nice today to see some of my gym buddies. I lowered the weight of my bench, in an effort to start working up again. I also used the fat grips. I have never used them before, so I went pretty light to get a feel. I like them, and will stay with them.

Shoulder’s surely feeling better.

Not bad. The rest helps

Due to back issues, this was my first run at squats since June 8th. The back is not 100%, but I needed to get it done.

Here in Washington State we are being nailed with wildfires. Because of that the air is covered in smoke. It is the worst I have ever seen. Plus I am coming down with a cold. Both are making things difficult.

My aunt in Nampa Id, said it’s terrible there also. Wil definitely keep the entire Northwest in our prayers.

Thank you. It’s crazy and worse today. They are telling people to stay inside, because the air is so bad.

Nature is revolting.

If you don’t mind hurricanes, you’re welcome to come stay with us.

No thanks. I got a little taste of it when I was in Nashville last week.

Sorry to hear that. I have been up there many, many times. Love the drive down Snoqualmie, well in the summer anyway😏

This was my first deadlift since the meet. It was lighter than normal since it was week one of the routine. I am still pretty sick. I have asthma, which has not bothered me in years. With my cold and all the smoke in the air I was really struggling. It is no longer safe to go outside and they are telling people to wear a mask if you do.

I’m still pretty sick and I cannot get in the air that I want. I was dragging ass today. I needed a slight bump to get 375 off my chest. 370 flew up last week. I’ll be better and do a repeat next week.
