I had a broken toe once. I remember it being more debilitating than I would have expected. Hope you heal fast! Where is your boy going to college?
Yeah it sucks. He’s going to Washington State.

This was one of those mornings when you feel strong, like you can lift anything. I went a little lighter than normal on the 315 set. I would normally start out at 330, but I wanted to leave more in the tank for 420. 420 was solid. I struggled a little at the top, but I was able to lock out. I won’t bench again for two weeks. At which time I’ll gear up, to get ready for March.

On the plus side, my next meet will be March 12. I normally compete again in August, but my son leaves for his Freshman year of college that week. I told my wife I want to got to the WABDL words in Vegas in August, and she was good with it. It will be a great year of training.[/quote]
Best wishes for that great year of training! March will be here before we know it. I plan on competing in gear again late in the year (first time in 6 years), and it will be good to know/see someone else training in it. Seems like everyone is raw only these days (I still compete raw too).
Children leaving for school: bracing myself for that, emotionally and financially. I have a while before it gets here, but I know and am meeting more people who are going through it.
Crippler, you really put the work into workout. Your log reads like you’re spending a lot of energy on lighter lifts. Your 1/2/16 and 1/3/16 workouts list 20 and 18 reps in your main lifts with lesser weights (for you) before reaching 315. I’ve been lifting steadily since my 20s and I’m far from a trainer, but when I changed to a good warmup with about 3 - 5 light reps per weight increase in the main lift(s), I had more energy for the heavy lift. I think CT suggested this in some article. Also it’s easier to just keep adding 45s.
I’m not saying I think your workout is the wrong approach since it has gotten you as strong as your are presently. You’ve got a lot of good lifting years ahead of you. Just sharing my experience. Keep up the good posts.
Happy New Year brother, toe injury? FACK
Swole: I just like the challenge. Plus where I live there are mostly geared meets.
Biker: You may be right. My current routine is just something I fell into. I’m not saying it’s right. Perhaps a change is needed.
Matty: Yeah it sucks!
You’re moving huge weights my friend, nice lifting. Who needs gear anyway? Either way I envy your bench and your squat is looking great too.
Wow, I’m not sure about this new set up here.

This was the first pre-meet DL session. I’m pretty happy with the results. I kind of lost the handle a bit on the second rep of 500, but I’m counting it since I put out the effort.
Good workout and you’re not wasting energy on the lower weights.
Your words were in my head Biker. I cut back a bunch of reps and got to work.
You’ll be pulling 600 soon.

It’s been a long time since I attempted reverse grip bench. I remember why now. I keep wondering if I am going to drop the bar on my face. Still, it’s a nice change.
Looking to see that 600 dead soon. I would love to do reverse grip benches but my wrists are against it. Old motorcycle accident still haunts me. Looks like you’re hitting some nice volume with some of your lifting. I bet you’re laying some ground work for bigger future lifting.
Nice work. I was thinking of adding some reverse grip benches yesterday but didn’t do it. I have to do them without wrist wraps or I get the bar is going to fall on my face feeling.
