Congrats on the AC. Maybe start referring to you as “brick shit house” or “bsh”?
I remember the feeling at 24 while serving in Navy when an admiral told me the same thing.

BSH sounds cool. He was really drunk though, to be honest.

It was nice to see some faces at the gym I have not seen for a while. I do miss training there during the week. Just one of the things that sucks about working in upper management.

I changed gym bags for the first time in 20 years. I left my boards and band at home. It forced me to change the plan of attack today. I will start really light for my opener in November. 280 is super easy and will be a good opener. I have screwed myself in the past and opened too heavy.
I remember Alan Thrall once mentioning a good way to determine your opening weight is the amount you can triple without problems. Have you found that to be the case?
I still use my old OD Green “Helmet Bag” that’s got to be 35 years old as my gym bag. The PL meet, many moons ago, I set my highest total I went 8 of 9 and it was the last Bench I missed. Opened to low and then on the last lift made too big a jump.
Yes, normally that is what I do. 280 is one of my warm ups. I’ve screwed myself too many times. A lot of it was because I used to bench in a shirt. My left side lags behind at times. With the shirt, it only makes matters worse. I don’t have the issue raw.
I purchased some Justin boots 20 years ago. With the purchase I got a really nice National Finals Rodeo duffle bag. I have used it ever since. Recently, a contractor at work gave me a nice smaller bag. He was trying to sell me the cleaning supplies they stuffed inside. I like it, but I think I may switch back.

Hex Bar DL:
3/315, 2/365, 1/405, 1/425
This was just the second time I have ever deadlifted a hex bar. I am not sure how much crossover there is with a normal bar, since I pull semi-sumo. I thought 425 was pretty decent after the previous work.

It was way too smoky to train in the garage. There is a huge forest fire in our county. The smoke is the worst I have ever seen. Below is a photo of the sky outside my house. It looks like fog, but it’s smoke. It is literally snowing ash outside.
That’s supposed to be one of the prettiest areas of the country. Jeez.
I’m glad the AC was fixed. There is no way we could have open windows. People who live up there are having to evacuate their homes and move their livestock.

I was really tired this morning. The wife and I drove across state to visit friends yesterday. We didn’t get in until 12:30 AM. I hit the gym at my normal weekend time of 8:00. I decided to work on foot position instead of doing anything too hard.
So you’re in no danger, I hope?
No. I live about 40 miles east. It’s pretty big and has been going for three weeks. Over 120 square miles and only 3% contained.
