Well, I made it. I have been on the quest for another bench, and my mom found one today online. After a lenghty (2hour) exchange we settled on a price. The bench w/ pec dec attachment, the bar (standard) 2- 25’s, 2-10s, and 2-5s for $60. Had to drive nearly to Austin to get it. I never go that direction for reason. Seen more NonDrivingMFs than I have dealt with in years. 120 mile trip. Which should have been nothing, a couple hours tops, 4 hours later I finally made it home. The good news is, now I have bar to squat with, AND a bar bench with…bahahahaaaaa! This bench is narrower and I hope a lil shorter than the one I have now. ![]()

I had to take it outside this morning so the 55’s ended up being more of a clean and press than actual strict press. Hate the new bench, but love the new plates. I am sure the bench is fine and it is my form that is the issue. I WILL figure it out! Just might have to take it up to Pimp Daddy’s and modify it a lil…lol I really think I inherited every defect both my parents have…lol
What’s wrong with the new bench?
Hard to give bench advice without seeing what’s going on. But for me, it’s all about tightness.
The uprights are really close together. I have been benching in my homemade rack and using what “feels to me” like a natural/medium width grip. The uprights are in the exact position I would have on the bar. If that makes any sense. I am trying to summon the courage for vids. And, it’s not a dang bit shorter. I can dangle my feet off the sides…lol. Just played around with it this morning. Will work on rearranging tomorrow. The point of anotber bench was so I don’t have to keep moving the other one with the cable attachment on it. That makes for a pain and takesup time.
The uprights are in the position where you grip? That doesn’t sound right. Measure your grip for me in cm. From index finger to index finger.
44cm, about a half an inch off the smooth part of a standard bar. The inside measurement of the uprights is 46cm . Like I said I am sure this is me.
I need a picture of this. 44 cm is a narrow grip. I’m not understanding how the uprights contact the bar there. What am I missing here?

Okay, okay, I managed to actually ride my bicycle that don’t go nowhere. Half ass interval thing. It’s going to take every bit of will power I have to ride that thing for 20-30 mins. I made it…

Drug out the “Thing” and got it all limbered up. Haven’t used it in a while. I hate it and it hates me. Are we sure we have to do this cardio/ conditioning thing to be strong? It sprinkled just enough to make it suffocating outside.
Full blown excuse… The sprinkles we got last nite brought out the mosquitos in hordes. I did attempt a workout, but honestly need a blood transfusion at this point! Sprayed the yard guard in there to kill the lil bastards, but it gives me a migraine. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to put perfume in poison??? Will try again this evening, if I am able.

This is going to be one of those weird post, so you may want to stop here. But, I need to say it out loud.
For me.
I have done great with 5/3/1 hardgainer program. Very happy with how far I have come. But, am having some technical issues. No fault of the program just my stupidity, but that’s okay. I am human and entitled to make mistakes. The important part is that I have learned and can adjust things before they get out of hand.
Started out great and actually got up 127 lbs at one point. That’s the most I have weighed in over 2 years!!! But, I am back down 121 this morning. Everything got real busy, real fast the last few weeks. I simply did not eat enough. Good news is… I haven’t crashed once. Been tired but no episodes. I dropped the most of the assistance exercises and just hit the main lifts in hopes of not losing any ground. That part worked. But have developed some weakness in certain areas. That is what I get for having a meltdown over shit that I cannot change!
The thing to do now, is fix it. That’s how you learn. So, I will knock the weight back down and start again.
I have come too far, and I shall not quit!
Need to adjust the assistance to work on the weak points. Lower back/abs and glutes. I don’t think I am getting near enough glute activation.
And if you you have read this far just consider yourself warned. I am trying to talk myself into posting a couple of pics for reference purposes.
All I can say is… Don’t Look Ethel!!! Cuz everbody knows, God put my pretty on the inside.

Thanks OG! I squat on Mon, DL on Thurs. Would it be better to do them on squat or DL day? or both?
