OK, Let's Lift! And 1 and 2 and 1 and 2

I squatted 405x10 on Friday night. I believe that’s a 5 rep PR at that weight.

just did this last week as well. Out of curiosity was it strength or cardio/endurance that became the problem at the end?

I suppose a little of both. Probably more on the cardio end. I was feeling pretty light headed at the end. Strength-wise, I believe I could have completed 2-3 more reps, but I didn’t want to risk passing out, as I didn’t have spotters or safety rails. It wasn’t like when I did 315x20 and my lungs were on fire, but more like I felt like my face was going to explode. If that makes sense.

Last night I deadlifted. I’m really getting frustrated by my max not going up, but at least I didn’t fail a rep last night. Worked up to 495x2, then 545x1. 545 had a sticking point somewhere in the middle of the lift, but no hitch. I hit 495x5 after that, which was a rep PR of 3 reps at that weight I think. So I at least got some volume in.

I felt the exact same way. After my meet I am going to have to give 315 for 20 a try. Sounds fun haha.

Man I’ve been dragging ass. Your really killing it. I am gonna have to step my game up. Thanks for the motivation.

Reed recently hit 350x20. He nearly died on the last rep, lol.

last night I benched 355 with a good pause, no ass-lifting off the bench. I used nose-tork for the first time. I really, really liked it. Can’t wait to try it on squat and bench.
After 355, I hit 225 for 3 sets of 10.
Then a bunch of sets of bb rows, little rest in between sets.

bodyweight is still around 192 in the am.

Nose tork is amazing. Always good to see another convert, haha. Congrats on the bench PR.

I read the rules for the federation (APF) running the meet I’m doing in 3 weeks. Apparently knee sleeves aren’t allowed in their raw division. Bummer. I love mine. So I practiced without them last night to get a feel for heavy squatting without them. I never go above 350ish without them, so I guess I technically hit PR’s.

Worked up to singles at 455 and 475 without the sleeves. Didn’t seem to affect my max strength. So I guess I should be fine. Finished with a set of 20 at 275. Had to cut the session there because of time constraints. But it was a hell of a workout for only having about 30-40 minutes.

nothing really to speak of in my last squat session. worked up to 415x2, then 415x3, then 365x3x3.

hit my last heavy deadlifts on Sunday. Worked up to what I want my opener to be for a single. This was 525. I feel pretty confident with this number, but I’ll be flexible with it if my warm ups don’t feel great on meet day.

Good luck on your meet. It looks like you’ll put up some big numbers, hopefully all PRs.

shit, if I hit ANY PR’s I’ll be ecstatic! If I can just hit my best gym numbers, I’ll be pretty happy. That would be enough to make it on the current top 50 list of lifters in my weight class.

ugh. my last post didn’t register… damn.

basically I said I missed logging a couple sessions, but I’ve determined my openers for Saturday will be approximately 440/340/520. 440 is a lock on squat, I won’t move off that. Warmups will determine whether or not I’ll stay with the other 2 lifts. I’m also planning on benching and squatting a little tomorrow, then taking the rest of the week off.

Morning bw was 188.6 this morning. That’s awesome. Hopefully no sauna time will be required. Currently ramping up water. I can weigh in as early as 9am Friday, so that’s the plan unless my weight isn’t where it needs to be by then.

Good luck man

Been admiring your training/physique; a great ‘goal’ for a similar sized lifter as myself, strong and solid.
Rock it this coming weekend!
ERIC D.

thanks guys! Always good to see that people actually read this thing, lol.

I ate more carbs yesterday than I intended, but today will be very strict. 2 gallons of water, and under 100 carbs, most of which will come at dinner. Basically just drinking a shake and eating peanut butter all day. Tomorrow will be 2 1/2 gallons of water, no sodium, no carbs.

Good luck!

Enjoyable read, will definitely be checking back.
