We’re gonna totally OWN Ecuador. Germany will score nine points.

How do you score 9 points?

Anyway maybe you have not watched Equador play yet, judging by their last 2 games played Equador should beat Germany with ease.

Ahm…winning three times in a row, beating every other team in your group gives you like nine points?

You can’t score 9 points though can you? You can score 9 goals though, but I really do not see that happening agaisny Equador, fancy a little bet on the game?

[/quote]

Each game a team wins, gives them 3 points. 3 games won = 9 points

In a league, like the group stages, a win is worth three points, a draw is worth one point and a loss is worth nil points.

three wins equals nine points.

muppet.

And if you are trying to be clever by saying you can’t score nine points in one game, which no-one ever suggested that you could, then you are just being a bit of a nob.

Frankly the England vs Trinidad & Tobago was atrocious and I have to say, bordering on the unacceptable for that England squad.

ENGLAND CANNOT PLAY LONG BALL FOOTBALL. One player up front is crap with his head (unless the best crosser in the world puts a ball square on it and he fouls a defender to score) and the other one is shorter than an Oompa Loompa and less fit than that Half-ton man.

I know it’s a terrible crime to drop one of the golden boys but anyone can see that with a dedicated holding player a la carrick or hargreaves Stevie G or Lamps (let it be Stevie as he’s the better player!) would have so much more freedom to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. It wasn’t like they weren’t trying yesterday but they were running around like headless chickens.

At least try it for 45mins and if it don’t work change back.

Also, I really do not give a fuck if the spirit in the team camp is good or not. It’s not a jolly away day. Do your jobs. If more people in that squad ruffled some feathers I think we’d see a better reaction on the pitch anyway.

Also, if there’s one thing we have learned from this WC it’s that the ball is perfect for anyone wanting to shoot outside the box - Lampard and Gerrard should be striking from 30yards every bloody time rather than trying to play in Crouchaldinho.

PS - Ashley Cole is sooo not match fit either. Was surprised at how many times he got mugged off yesterday. That just don’t happen to him. Maybe he just kept getting distracted by someone ringing his mobile phone which is set to vibrate, if you know what I mean…

PPS The T&T coach looked like a scary straight-to-video movie villain, and he definitely stole Donald Sutherland’s hairdo.

Germany are in for a rude awakening against Ecuador. Ecuador will prevail first overall in this group. I have to be honest, the home side have not impressed me so far in their first 2 matches, despite 2 wins.

What a mess, goodbye Serbia!

Completely spot on and very amusing…!

SSSSSWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEENNNNNNNN!!!

FUCKSHIT that the Ivory Coast lost, my whole family me included wanted them to go through. Dammit, and I thought this was going to be the World Cup with the most upsets.

At least Ecuador is through. Hopefully they beat Sweden so they can play Argentina in the semis, given that Argentina doesn’t lose to Mexico or Portugal.

I’m proud to say that I’ve been calling Ecuador all along, but that was basically just a random feeling.

I’ve never watched soccer that much, but I’ve gotten into it with the World Cup, like a lot of people I guess. I have to say that I’m actually really starting to appreciate soccer as a sport a lot more now that I’ve been watching.

That Ivory Coast vs. Netherlands was an awesome game (I can’t believe Ivory Coast couldn’t capitalize in stoppage time), both teams really seemed to be playing their asses off. One thing I noticed that hurt the Ivory Coast was that they seemed to not be that accurate with their crosses and corner kicks. I don’t know that much about soccer but they seemed to be super strong in using their speed and dribbling to get into good situations to score but they didn’t seem to have anybody with much of a leg. Netherlands seems like a team that plays good defense, but maybe a little slow?

It also seems to me from watching the games that the South American/African teams rely more on dribbling and short quick passes and try to penetrate into the box to score while the European teams try to lob the ball up in the box for headers or blast the ball from deeper and try to get a rebound.

Just a couple of random comments from somebody who doesn’t know a whole lot about the sport.

pwn3d is very accurate. Especially the preliminary work leading to the second goal was brilliant. I counted 26 passes in succession without interference before Cambiasso finally finished the task.

I’m still sceptical that Argentina will make it past the quarter finals, though.

Hey fella,

As a generalisation most African teams tend to combine a very strong physicality with the flair of the South American teams - problem being that their end product is very very rarely up to the quality of their latin counterparts.

I was rooting for Cote D’Ivoire as well because of the Arsenal connection but Holland have talent ALL OVER the park so fair play to them.

I was impressed by Angola. You could tell Mexico was more skilled by Angola just played with desperation for that tie.

Oh come on, electric, don’t be so tense.
I didn’t know “scoring points” means the same as “scoring goals” in your book.

As far as I know, the most goals Germany ever shot in a WC game was against Saudi Arabia with 8:0 (was it 2002?). They certainly won’t top this against Ecuador.

Let’s just forget that crap and post some more pictures of WC hotties, OK?

OK

Well done Ghana!

Ghana beats the Czechs. After an early lead they manage to defend the score against one of the best teams so far in the tournament and score another one to take the win for sure. Ghana’s defense stood like a wall and their middlefield outplayed the czechs gloriusly. One thing to work on, for the ghanaian, is their scoring, it needs to be more sophisticated and not lose numerous chances.
What they need now is that the US beats Italy.

Go USA!
