You were watching the wrong game. The first half was excellent and mexico were edging it. Argentina beat a GOOD team today but Germany will beat them in the next round.

I think we saw how anyone playing Argentina should approach the game. Mexico harried them, didn’t allow Riquelme time on the ball and really took the fight to them.
I thinnk I’ll die if England end up going out to Portugal for a third time! C’mon Holland!

(to make it easier to look at matches and make predictions)
Most impressive first 30 mins by a German team since `90!!!
Klose and Podolski is the best offensive duo in the tournament!
No alcohol until Friday…

I predict the winner of the Germany vs Argentina match will go on to win the world cup.

Speaking as a Swede… Yeah. You’re right. We were pulverised and righly so. While I would quibble with the send-off, there was no comparison between the teams. If the English survive that far, I don’t think you will have any problem.

Just a couple of hours untill portugal-holland… big chance van Nistelrooy will not be in the base. I really hope holland wins this one. 2 years ago in the EC they kicked us out…
oh and a nice picture for the german-girl fans

Errr wow…Do I win the prize?
I was in England watching the first round of the World Cup. The English fans are crazy. They did beat Ecuador today 1-0 on a free kick by Beckham. They looked OK but not good enopugh to go to the final. My opinion. I am slightly partial for seeing Italia going the disatance because of my Italian heritage.
Portugal leads Holland 1-0 I am going to watch the second half.
Good luck to all teams remaining.
Well Holland Portugal was a farce…
16 cards but only 25 fouls according to the stats. Worst ref ever.
But far worse was the display of diving, cheating, theatrics, feigned injury and pressuring the ref from both sides. With such talent in both squads it was embarrassing to watch and not a good advert for the game.
Still, looks good for England that Portugal will be without half their squad for the quarter finals!
PS - Is Van Nistlerooy’s international career as over as his club career?
PPS Say what you want about England today but we’re getting a little better every match with the return to fitness of Ashley Cole, Rooney etc - hopefully peaking right when we need to.
Here’s to tearing cheaty Portugal a new one!
I’m a World Cup neophyte but it didn’t take long for me to catch on to the water break strategy. Get tripped, fall to the ground and barrel roll several times while holding your leg in apparent agony, doctors come out with a stretcher and a cooler full of water bottles for the rest of the team.
The constant flops, dives and fake injuries to draw penalties gets old fast. Is this common at the club level too? Netherlands v. Portugal was hard to watch…16 yellows and players acting as if they stepped on a land mine every 30 seconds.
England ARE NOT going to have a better chance to reach the seim finals after that Holland - Portugal match. 16 yellow cards and 4 reds = No deco, no Costinha, and ronaldo injured.
Big smiles ;o)
I think Ronaldo will recover, it was not a bad knock, nice to see the the little prick crying like a girl though!
I was praying for extra time and a couple more red cards and a Holland win.
I now have faith that we may beat Portugal in the next round, Deco is a major loss for them.
And we have been slowly improving and can turn it on for the big games.
Drop Beckham start with Lennon and letrs go all the way!!
Portugal-Holland was a bad game indeed. I think it’s the game with the most cards ever in world cup history… not really a record to be proud of I think. I may be a little biased but I think Holland dominated the game although they couldn’t score. Vigo really fucked boularouz imo.
congratulations on England by the way. I really hope you beat portugal in the next round.
I also support Australia now, coach hiddink is doing a good job. not really optimistic though, they only booked the hotel untill the 28th.

We often get called naive for not wanting to play like our continental cousins and employing ‘gamesmanship’ at every opportunity. I would genuinely rather lose than play that way.
Both teams should be ashamed of themselves, but as Mick said - A BIG thank you for self-destructing before we play you.
hehe I just heared that the FIFA boss stated on portugese television that maybe referee Ivanov should get a card as well

The famed latin temperament was portugals undoing imo. Several subs were rallying the crowd to get behind the team. They did and looked what happened!!!
I dont think the game was an advert to a diehard football player from texas with the amount of gamesmanship about.
Im sure we owe portugal a sound beating.
The worst faking I’ve ever seen was Rivaldo in 2002 vs. Turkey… faking in soccer is nothing new, it’s half the reason I always root for new teams, some may call them “naive” not to play like that, but it makes for a more respectable soccer.
Watching Mexican club teams is the worst…
the flopping is ridiculous.
How can people think this makes for entertainment?
“haha, my guy tripped himself better than your dude!”
That shot by beckham toda…gold.
