My friend is going to California some city called Carlsbad which is apparently very close to San Diego.
What spots in San Diego would you guys recommend checking out? What about in terms of night life and restaurants?
what kind of night life is he looking for and does he have transportation? Carlsbad is decently far north from the places i hangout in.
Pacific beach bars can be a little overwhelming if you aren’t used to that kind of debauchery. There are a lot of cool ‘surfer dive bars’ in the Encinitas area which is much closer to Carlsbad than pacific beach is. I would avoid the downtown san diego club scene. Not worth it in my opinion.
He was planning on taking the train. Not a good idea?
What’s wrong with the san diego club scene? I think a bar with a really good patio and full of people our age (1985er’s) is good.
Any restaurants? What sort of food is San Diego known for?

There’s not much of a train system in SD. There’s a trolley that goes from downtown to the border. There’s an AMTRAK line that goes down the coast (I don’t know if it hits Carlsbad but it hits Oceaside a few miles north of Carlsbad and ends downtown).
I don’t know too much about the club scene as I don’t really do the club thing anymore(I’m a married late 70’s-er).
I can’t really think of any 1 specific food item San Diego is known for but I suppose Baja foods (seafoods) are closer to home here. But if you want to hit up a well known joint, I’d recommend hitting up the Hash House for breakfast with Akuma.

Oh, and make that a late 1970’s-er as in “I’m not in my late 70’s”. I’m actually in my early 30’s. BIG difference

For those of you interested in the flag football league the first practice/scrimmage will be this saturday, 11:00 @ Rob Field in OB. Should be meeting up out front of the tennis courts (on the grass side not parking lot)
Unfortunately I will not be there because I’ve got a wedding to go to that day but I talked to Catfish (that’s the team manager) and he said to tell you guys to come on out.
Our team wears red so if you’ve got a red shirt wear it. Let me know if you have any questions guy. Thanks!

dunno how ive managed to miss this thread for so long.
is anyone still doing prowler at balboa park? me and a couple of friends to prowler every sunday, 11am at the SDSU practice football fields. also have a 300-400lb (dunno how to measure the damn thing) tractor tire we flip around. also, pink prowler makes it harder.
i also have a homemade “prowler” sled if anyone wants it for free, its a huge bitch because its one big ski with a lotta surface area. works the same as the prowler.

yeah the league is the San Diego Flag Football League. you can google SDFFL and the first link that pops up is the site for the league (its an eteamz site)
Come on out and check things out. Like i said I wont be there but if you want any more info you can PM me or reply to this. If you plan on showing up i can give you the team managers phone number so you can call him when you get to the field… so you know you’re with the right guys.
Did you play ball in highschool, college or anything? What did/do you play?

soccer in high school, rugby in college, ok hands.
my friend played DB in highschool and college, hes got a lot better hands.
Anybody that wants a prowler workout send me a PM so I get the email notification, can set it up at Balboa park like we did before. I can also bring a dragging sled, belt, upper body straps, the longass rope for pulling, some KBs etc. but if it’s just me, I can smoke myself with just the KBs at home. I think pushing the thing on the short grass is easier than the concrete, you can push it further.
I also spray painted 80 yards out on the alley behind my house marking every 5 yards if you like concrete
We are having practice this saturday morning at 10 AM. Its going to be a Rob Field in OB so if you are interested PLEEEEEEEEASE reply to this thread and let me know. I will be able to give you more information.
Looks like we’re supposed to have a few new guys who are good so if that pans out… that’ll be awesome. Its going to be a good time, you get to run around, have fun, play ball and get a little physical
Oh and Greg i should be able to make it out this Saturday, assuming no tragic event happens on the way there like a car accident, earthquake, heart attack (from all the creatine), tsunami, ex girlfriend calls me whining etc.
