Sloth, I vaguely remember you (I think it was you) making an argument to support local communities before this OWS stuff came out. I think it was an argument for “community above consumer” or something like that. If you have time, I think it would be interesting to see what you (and perhaps the religious right) feel(s) about this. [/quote]
More like, community before Big and Distant. Be that government or business.

Well I know that Wal Mart is the 3rd largest employer in the world after the Chinese army and the U.S. government. I know that major retailers did not contribute to the economic collapse, I know that they did not get any bailouts…SO WHY THE FUCK IS OCCUPY WALL STREET BOYCOTTING THEM??
For the love of shit…not one word from the OCCUPY people about boycotting congress…who are really the ones that got us into this mess.
People that work in retail are just like everybody else…trying to work and take care of their families…so let’s boycott our neighbors now??
W…T…F?

Because Walmart buys into this bullshit that the way out of this recession is to fuck the working class or at least it is deemed that way

I was not defending Wal Mart…I merely pointed out that they employ half the world.
They did not take a bailout…they did not cause the housing bubble, so I don’t understand why the Occupy people are boycotting them?
Hating on Wal Mart for other reasons I can understand…but why lump them in with Lehman/B of A/Goldman Saks?
When the Occu-Poos consider taking their smelly tents to the White House lawn, then I might consider actually liking them.
But here in Los Angeles, the Unions have lobbied to keep the Occu-Poos in place, something that made our Mayor Phoney (Tony) Villar retreating from his threats to move them.
Fucking Unions own this whole state.

I am not defending OWS protesters nor am I against Walmart. Walmart’s employment practices are being called into question that is why they are lumping them into the catagory Leman/B ilk

Had they done that, instead of stinking up the cities, I think ALOT more people would be supportive of the movement.
"I was still deeply puzzled as to why OWS, this hapless, hopeful band, would call out a violent federal response.
That is, until I found out what it was that OWS actually wanted.
The mainstream media was declaring continually “OWS has no message”. Frustrated, I simply asked them. I began soliciting online “What is it you want?” answers from Occupy. In the first 15 minutes, I received 100 answers. These were truly eye-opening.
The No 1 agenda item: get the money out of politics. Most often cited was legislation to blunt the effect of the Citizens United ruling, which lets boundless sums enter the campaign process.
No 2: reform the banking system to prevent fraud and manipulation, with the most frequent item being to restore the Glass-Steagall Act - the Depression-era law, done away with by President Clinton, that separates investment banks from commercial banks. This law would correct the conditions for the recent crisis, as investment banks could not take risks for profit that create kale derivatives out of thin air, and wipe out the commercial and savings banks.
No 3 was the most clarifying: draft laws against the little-known loophole that currently allows members of Congress to pass legislation affecting Delaware-based corporations in which they themselves are investors.
When I saw this list - and especially the last agenda item - the scales fell from my eyes. Of course, these unarmed people would be having the shit kicked out of them."

Got to love articles written by liberal writers behind a desk on the other side of the Atlantic!
Occu-Poo LA has been called to disband and clear their shit out by tomorrow night at midnight. At 12:01 AM, LAPD will begin to remove people, peaceful or not. This idiot mayor just declared war, as numerous Occupoos will now come to LA just to help keep them there.
Guaranteed, there will be a massive riot tomorrow night in LA.
The Occupoo’s are setting up for tonight, let’s see if the shit jumps off at 12:01 am.
