^^ The funny thing about accents is you’re not necessarily making fun of the person’s ethnicity. If you dropped a white baby into Tokyo he’d grow up having trouble forming Rs properly.

I teach English in Taiwan and they don’t have the problem with R/L so much here, but some have difficulty ending words with a consonant, like they won’t just say “dog” they may say “dog-uh” sort of turning it into two syllables. Again, this is not true for everyone, just if their palates have fully formed and they didn’t get enough practice with English early in life.
