Dems kill bill banning sex-selection abortions…

'The House on Thursday rejected a Republican bill that would impose fines and prison terms on doctors who perform abortions for the sole purpose of controlling the gender of the child, a practice known as sex-selective abortion…Earlier in the day, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) indicated that the issue of stopping sex-selective abortion is important enough that they would try again, but he was not specific.

During debate on the bill Wednesday, Republicans said the bill is consistent with the broader U.S. position that sex-selective abortion should be condemned around the world.

“In 2007, the United States spearheaded a U.N. resolution to condemn sex-selective abortion worldwide,” said Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), the sponsor of the bill. “Yet, here in the land of the free and the home of the brave, we are the only advanced country left in the world that still doesn’t restrict sex-selective abortion in any way.”

“It is another Republican intrusion into a woman’s right to choose,” said Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) of the GOP bill on Wednesday.

Dude, until birthed it’s merely a banana. What women are killed?

It’s interesting that the progressive notion is to go around banning it, or trying to ban it, around the world. Well, until it hits close to home. So, why is that? Because if it becomes an issue here, suddenly the pro-choice arguments come back to bite you in the ass. “What female human? It’s a parisitic turnip, pre-baby switcheroo. Right? But wait, it’s against females. But, again, what females? No human females are killed in abortions! Because if they are, so are human blacks, hispanics, whites, heterosexuals, homosexuals, etc. So, there is no Gendercide! At least not on our home turf…But over there, yeah.”

Posted these in another thread. The reason why this is starting to become a story? Oh, Planned Parenthood on video. Again.

That is the sort of thinking on display in much of the pro-choice stuff I’ve read. But I think a lot of people must know in the back of their minds that it’s wrong. That’s presumably why so many women report feelings of loss and of being traumatised by abortions for the rest of their lives.

I’m just baffled by it. Gendercide! I mean, it just sounds like it should be right up the progressive activist’s alley, doesn’t it? With that focus on gender and all. “Ban gendercide in that one place! Women deserve life too.” “Oh snap, ban it here?” “Well, that might get problematic when the arguments are laid out…”

Makes about as much as sense as their other arguments. $17 trillion in debt? Spend more. Under threat throughout the world? Strip the military. etc.

There is not even a tiny shred of scientifically verified evidence that abortion causes mental health disturbances.

This is from ABC(Australian Broadcasting Corporation) - ABC is extremely liberal.

'New research out today suggests that having an abortion can increase the likelihood of young women later developing some sort of mental health problem.

The research team, based at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Christchurch, New Zealand, undertook the study as part of a range of long-term studies of 500 young Kiwis from their birth in 1977.’

And the doctor who led the study was a pro-life loonie right?

‘My view is I’m pro-choice, and I believe that women do have the right to have a choice to abortion.’

Uh huh. So I guess this research can’t be dismissed as pro-life propaganda.

Don’t a lot of women experience similar feelings from giving birth?

I’ve heard of things like ‘birth rape’ and women reporting PTSD in general after giving birth. Seems like the practise of operating on one’s genitals is inherently traumatic.

I’ve never even heard of “birth rape” That sounds ludicrous. What you are referring to is postpartum depression. Not PTSD or “birth rape”.

Childbirth-related post-traumatic stress disorder - Wikipedia - it’s a ridiculous name

http://www.birthtraumaassociation.org.uk/

Postpartum depression is another.

Well, seems the Obama campaigns efforts to bring about a GOP war on women has not worked out as well as hoped.

Now it is onto the new. Seems the latest idea being rolled out by Obama and some media allies is the Mitt Romney is a “disaster for…”.

“The Desperate Campaign of Barack Obama”
