Obama's Pirate Chums

The absence of BO during this event is extremely telling.

BO is showing the world we will cower at the sign of ANY agression. Especially if you are Muslim. Muslims get a free pass because we won’t take a chance of offending them in any way.

I expect that after BO pays Pirates with TARP funds, he will issue an apology for our high seas arrogance.

This is absolutely the most PATHETIC showing of any CIC this great country has ever had. Where is our leader?

I really want to know what the Obomunists have to say about this one.

The captain actually escaped, and was in the water…but our Navy did noting. He had to return to the lifeboat…because we did NOTHING. That lifeboat should have went down in flames the second he escaped.

Seems you were too focused on your hate of Obama.

How will you be paying up?

It is naive to think that we could have “blown up their sailboat” the second the captain jumped ship, mostly because the swimming captain would have probably been harmed and maybe even killed by sucha blast, even if he was in the water.

It is also incredibly foolish to have just gone after the pirates with out at least attempting a discussion first. That is what we did. Because the Somalians we were negotiating with did not agree to placing the pirates under arrest, we left the talks.

It was incredibly important to bide our time and make a meticulously planned strike. My reasoning? The French recently attempted a rescue from similar pirates. They saved only 4 out of the 5 hostages, because one was shot in the attempt.

And if you want any more proof that America handled this properly, we saved the pirate, killed three out of four pirates and have one prisoner.

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2009/04/12/world/AP-Piracy.html?hp

And before you say we should have proceeded with the strike much sooner than we actually did, keep in mind that pirates hold at least 200 prisoners internationally, and performing the strike without attempting negotiations could lead to backlash that would harm these hostages. While I am incredibly happy that the Captain Phillips was saved, I am nervous for the other hostages who may bear a retaliation from the terrorists holding them.

I am disappointed that we have one prisoner.
That creates all sorts of problems. Where were the snipers?

Where was the sniper who murdered Randy weaver’s wife at Ruby Ridge while she held her baby?

Umm…step away from your COD4. How does catching the pirate negotiator create all sort of problems…along with rescuing the captain?? You fail at humor.

Good work Navy.

Good work to Navy…and all involved.

Ahh yes. That pussy Obama cut his check and paid off the… oh wait, 3 out of 4 are dead?

Fuck, this really kills all the political angles you guys were getting.

You fuckin horse’s asses.

We are a castrated military now, and it’s very evident. 4 navy seals could have gutted these guys in 5 seconds without a sound.

How many seconds you think it took smartass?

And the lack of acknowledgment to the White House, Barack Obama, or any of the people you were yelling at earlier (The White House, Barack Obama) is extremely telling.

[edit: Not only directed at hedo, but to everyone who implied the leadership’s lack of conviction and work to saving the hostage]

I now can say I’m proud our Navy did the job…apparantly, he jumped again, and this time we were ready!

Good job guys…finally!
He didn’t jump. The pirates were flaunting him on their deck at gun point, the White House (read: Barack Obama) gave the order, and Navy snipers took out the pirates.

I guess “BO” wasn’t reaching for his checkbook, eh?

In addition:

Capt. Richard Phillips was in “imminent danger” of being killed before snipers shot the pirates in an operation authorized by President Barack Obama, Vice Adm. Bill Gortney said.

He said the pirates were armed with AK-47s and small-caliber pistols and were pointing the rifles at the captain when the commander of the nearby USS Bainbridge gave the order to open fire.

Gortney, the commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, said the White House had given “very clear guidance and authority” to take action if Phillips’ life was in danger.

I may have indeed failed at humor. The guy still alive is a good guy? I apparently missed the part about him being a negotiator. If all the bad guys are dead and the captain is safe then I am happy. My fear was that we’d have to spend a few more trillion building a new prison to entertain him in, hire someone to read the Koran to him and like that. After the Gitmo situation, it seems like a mistake to take prisoners. I don’t believe any of these candidates for artificial intelligence know anything so there is no point in interrogating them. Just my thoughts.

Umm…they killed 3 of 4 pirates. The fourth just happened to be the one that was making the demands during negotiations.

And you still fail at humor for the nonsense about Gitmo. The pirate was taking into to custody during the actual act of a crime…and most definitely will be charged…and possibly turn into a snitch for authorities. After all,he surrendered because he feared for his life…which I’m sure this is seen as cowardice and failure by his “brethren.” Seems you apparently missed a lot.

And, one more thing. What is a COD4? I am at sea right now so I take all this pretty seriously.

Thanks for the update. Seriously. My access to the media is a bit limited right now.

Hold up? Are you in the Navy? Or are you a fisherman or something?

Oh…I was referring to Call Of Duty 4:Modern Warfare…lol.

I am mate on a commercial vessel in the South China Sea right now, near the Malacca
Straits which was one of the areas with highest pirate activity until recently.

We have intermittent access to the internet
so I was a bit in the dark on the situation.
Shouldn’t have been shooting off my mouth.

My reference to the Gitmo situation was actually based on an article I read yesterday which was sympathetic to Obama’s
plight in dealing with the aftermath of Gitmo. If you go back and survey the entire
detainee situation (not just in Gitmo but also scenarios like the one in Afghanistan
in the early days after 9/11)it really does seem like an exercise in futility dealing with these prisoners.
