Why did you stop there. Barry has 4 years. You have at least another 10 years of headlines you could post from HH and FDR. What’s really scary is that FDR ran on promises to slash bureaucracy and cut spending. He ran as a small-govenment liberal. I think Barry is starting left of FDR which is incredibly scary. Make preperations now.

My familiy thinks I am nuts for starting to invest in home power generation (Solar=>Electricity, Ethenol for fuel)and non-perishables. I can’t understand how people can completely ignore the past or spout some irrational garbage about why it can’t happen again.

Just tell them you’re helping the environment!

That would be a really silly reason to bury your head in the sand. What do I know and why would my opinion keep you from looking at the facts? I would suggest reading about the great depression and what brought it on. Then look at what is happening today. Don’t take my word for it, just look at the info that is out there.

I haven’t been telling anyone else to do what I am doing. I just find it funny that people think I am nuts for making preperations. If I were a single man with no kids, I probably wouldn’t worry too much about it. Since this is not the case I have responsibility to take care of my familiy in any scenario.

Besides, aren’t you stimulating the economy with your purchases?

So, how long for these public works to get rolling with all the enviromental, and other, regulations?

The infrastructure Obama is proposing will provide jobs to those who have skilled labor to offer or are large project type contractors and engineers. It’s not going to help the unemployed, unskilled or newly graduated.

Additioanlly if you lost your job in banking, insurance or finance at say age 35 to 55, it is unlikely you will seek employment on a road or bridge crew even if they would hire you w/o skills or experience.

Want to stimulate the economy and provide good solid jobs. Cut taxes across the board.
Small and large business will expand to fill the demand created by the rest of the population spending their hard earned money.

Whatever. You can’t convince people that they need to look out for themselves, they are goiing to call you crazy. Don’t fixate on them, worry about you. When the shit gets crazy and the starving idiots are begging you for food, its their fault not yours.

That’s a very good plan. To bad nobody ever thaught off tax cuts before. Or have they? And how did that work out?

I’m not alone in my assessment then.

nope. you probably have more in common than that. Like never having read a single book on basic economics or the economic cause and effect of the great depression.

Why don’t you tell us how it didn’t work.
