Obama vs. Fox News

LOL. I have to say that I honestly never paid too much attention to FoxNews until recently (I don’t have cable and have never seen any of their ‘opinion’ shows, Beck, OReilly, etc). I’ve read their actual news feeds as well and as often as any other major outlet.

However, as I’m a fan of studying media bias (since highschool), you can imagine I’m fascinated by this Administration’s attempt to marginalize actual journalism and reporting (again, I’m no fan of their ‘opinion personalities’):

On Sunday, Fox’s Chris Wallace retorted: “We wanted to ask Dunn about her criticism, but, as they’ve done every week since August, the White House refused to make any administration officials available to ‘FOX News Sunday’ to talk about this or anything else.”

This excerpt is just amazing (Dunn criticizing Fox for FACT CHECKING!!!):

White House Escalates War on Fox News

The White House stopped providing guests to ‘Fox News Sunday’ after Wallace fact-checked controversial assertions made by Tammy Duckworth, assistant secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, in August. Dunn said fact-checking an administration official was ‘something Iâ??ve never seen a Sunday show do.’

She criticized ‘FOX News Sunday’ last week for fact-checking – fact-checking – an administration official, Wallace said Sunday. “They didn’t say that our fact-checking was wrong. They just said that we had dared to fact-check.”

“Let’s fact-check Anita Dunn, because last Sunday she said that Fox ignores Republican scandals, and she specifically mentioned the scandal involving Nevada senator John Ensign,” Wallace added. “A number of Fox News shows have run stories about Senator Ensign. Anita Dunn’s facts were just plain wrong.”

Ya gotta love this Dunn woman though huh? I’m thinking a bit of reeducation may be in order for her. Didn’t anybody ever tell her that these tactics are not supposed to be publicly declared? Her and Biden should have gotten married.
The resulting loose lips could sink a thousand ships.

Har dee har har.

I have seen plenty of FoxNews over the last 10 years and I’m here to tell you that they cover every damn thing there is of any significance whatsoever in politics. Scandals!!! You gotte be shittn me. TO DEATH!!! Regardless of who they are about. I almost lapsed into Foley fatigue syndrome when that was going on. Sanford? On and On and On. And then on some more.

They had almost literally non stop Kennedy coverage for 4 straight days when he died. Every ultra liberal worshiper there is was on FOX extolling the virtues of the “Lion of the Senate”. OMG, the funeral?

During last years campaign I believe they broke the story of the newly discovered footage of McCain saluting after his release from Hanoi calling into question the use of his arms after being tortured by the North Vietnamese. They were ALL OVER Palin’s scandals and resignation from office nevermind how they pounded on Ted Stevens.

They make every effort to give everybody associated with a political story the opportunity to tell their view. Liberal Democrat politicians are on their newscasts live ALL THE TIME. Even the opinion shows have prominent liberals as guests ALL THE TIME.

They are the only serious television news outfit around anymore. People can trust that if a story is worth knowing about regardless of who it harms or helps they will hear about it from all sides to conclusion on FOX. That’s why so much of their audience consists of liberals and minorities. The rest are propaganda dispensers for the left end of the political spectrum. The bare fact they FOX isn’t makes them appear biased by comparison. They are not biased for the reasons I’ve just stated, but all that said they ARE pulling for conservatism, just like every other outlet is pulling for liberalism. The difference is they don’t let that slant their hard news reporting.

I’m tellin ya. Biden was out again talking about how the economy is in a depression for millions of Americans. I thought the stimulus was saving us.

I hope they do not shut either one of them up. In Bidens’s case they would need to send him to Gilligan’s Island.

OK folks, breaking word that inclement Boston weather has delayed the departure of the Hearst. OK folks, the Hearst is departing. Ok folks, the Hearst is now crossing the Sagamore Bridge. Ok folks, the motorcade is now turning onto Congress street. We now take you to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica to hear much of the whole mass and every single speaker there will be. Ok folks, SCJ Stephen Breyer has just farted while carrying the remains of Senator Kennedy to the gravesite.

This is why I don’t watch, but rather read the news. If I had to endure 4 days coverage of that asshole, I might have had to shoot myself. Prefering life, I’ll just read it. That way I can skip the bullsht like that jon and kate crap…Read the headline, skip.

I got to admit, they got some balls, but they may be facing legal action if they try it:

“The White House also appeared to stand by its effort to urge other networks to isolate and alienate the channel. Gibbs said Tuesday that it’s up to the White House Correspondents Association to decide whether Fox News should continue to be part of the White House pool which covers President Obama.”

I think it would be a huge mistake if the WH was to go ahead and try to do this kind of censorship. One thing about GW Bush and other presidents in the past, the media was able to take all the pot shots they wanted at the WH. Shit, Bill Maher’s and many comedians bank their career on humiliating the White House.

If I were obama, I would look to clinton on how to deal with this shit. He was the master…

Obama wants Fox to completely disappear. That’s just not going to happen. Clinton kept the weapons out of their hands. Obama is dumping truck loads of ammo. He is making Fox more popular than ever. He had the opposite effect, he turned more people on to Fox and made them more vigilant than ever. That combo is dangerous…I put my money on Fox News. I think they’ll win and this battle was poorly thought out.

Betting pool on whether Obama will pursue a “Fairness Doctrine” for cable news or otherwise try to bring in the FCC to bring an end to wrongthink being communicated to people?

E.g., we already know that fact-checking an Administration official is unfair and should not be done.

Perhaps that should be cause for yanking a license.

As for any argument that critical press cannot be shut down by the Executive branch: Lincoln did it with newspapers, and there is no shortage, within a given part of the political spectrum, of people who are quite opposed to the expression of ideas different than theirs.

I have a hard time believing this actually happened, but if it did the Bureau is next on the hit list.

You are right they will be if this is true, that’s why I figure tomorrow if I can figure out which department she called, I can just call them up and verify, shouldn’t be to hard to find out.

That is a very good possibility, tho if someone is working for the FBI it wouldn’t surprise me if they where a little on edge by this government, and Glenn Beck has been dealing out a refreshing dose of truth.

Like I said, if I can make out which section she called I will call them. So far no such luck.

It looks like some of the competing news companies are now starting to call POTUS out on this bull

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jeff-poor/2009/10/22/escalation-administration-attempts-exclude-fox-news-white-house-pool

I am really glad to see this. Plus I think it gives the other 4 agencies some much needed credibility.

They realized they where going down if they continued to go the path they where going. Don’t be too surprised if you see a 180 from the networks when it comes to Obama.
