You guys know, none of this really matters until humanity finally kicks altruism to the curb and embraces rational selfishness as the mainstream morality.
All these people (Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Bush(both), Frank,…) are merely symptoms. The disease (altruism) goes merrily on.
“Germany went awry because of a couple of things… money, and then crazy people”
Oh come on, that’s a joke! That’s fucking funny. Grow a sense of humor man! I don’t mind people disagreeing with him and hold opinions against his, but seriously. I have managed to laugh at a lot of Bush jokes over the years from liberal wackos, it won’t hurt you if you can do the same with conservative wackos.
huh. So you’re saying that was a joke? Do you mean the whole clip or the line quoted above?
I just re-watched the clip to see if you were right. It might be I don’t get the humor, to each his own on that score. But at the end Beck himself said it was “a serious conversation.” And it seems I’m not the only one who didn’t get it. A nine minute clip, but one guest didn’t say a single word… but the looks he gave throughout spoke volumes.
Maybe you’re trying to say I should be laughing at him? That I am. That I am.
I didn’t watch the whole clip, only a little past that particular line, which I thought was funny. I already am against public healthcare, I don’t particularly need to sit through a 9 minute spiel on it. I don’t really watch Beck, though in my opinion he has more of a “stand-up comic” vibe with his commentary. I don’t really view him as any worse than Maher in that regard, except I think Beck’s sense of humor is funnier.
My point was more general. I laughed at a lot of Bush jokes over the years, but now the people who made those jokes are getting butt-hurt with Obama jokes. They could dish it, they just can’t take it. I laugh at both and I’ll continue to do so…see the OMG ITS GLENN BECK pic Sloth posted. I actually Lol’ed.
(I saved that btw Sloth. I’m sure it will come in handy later but I’ll give you the royalties)

Heh. Don’t send me anything, as I stole it off the the interweb.
I know who Scarborough is. Thing is, I watched the Beck show in question. I know what I saw and heard. There was no nutjobbery goin’ on. You of all people should be making the point that a Republican congressman does not a honest conservative make.

I will join you in starting a movement to secure the immediate termination of Henry Louis Gates for screaming racism on a well respected police officer with a spotless record, a police force, a neighborhood and a country in a situation where clearly none existed. He is an educator in one the nations most prestigious schools. Certainly we can’t tolerate that.
Glen Beck does not profess to be a newscaster as far as I’ve ever heard.
The Ivy Leagues have been compromised. I almost look back fondly on the WASP good ol’ days

Glen Beck is saying what millions of Americans have thought for years. He is a human being and subject to all the usual foibles, but his show is generally well researched and his conclusions are more often than not some version of the same ones I’ve also come to.
He sees big government liberalism as an attack on the United States. Like I say, a view millions of Americans, including myself have thought for decades before ever hearing of him.
Very well said.
I will only add that Glenn Beck can be at times very inspirational when he talks about free enterprise, the American dream and everyones ability to achieve success. (If you leave out some of the political commentary) I think we all need to hear more from people like this. It’s not about how much government can do for you, it’s about how much you can do for yourself that will ultimately determine your level of success. Government is incapable of ever making you a real success. Taking from one person and giving to another helps neither!
I’m going tonight and psyched. Taking my twins and dad, who is a big fan. Penn’s peak in Jim Thorpe , Pa. is the venue. It’s a great place to see a concert or show. you get a lot of older bands or smaller bands there.
There’s a band called Get The Led Out that sells out the place. Maybe seats 1800 or so. good food, beer available so it should be a great time.
Okay, I’ve never really been a fan of Fox News in the past, but this was just ridiculous. I’ve been watching more and more shows like the O’reilly Factor and Fox and Friends, and the more I watch them the more my blood pressure rises. I’m wondering what people think of this and if this trend in the separation of left and right ideals is becoming dangerously pronounced.
If people actually support Beck on this one, this seems an ominous sign of the role of political ideas affecting our social structure. To me, this clip shows deep seeded distrust, hatred, and almost outward aggression from the conservative media rather than one mans opinion of the president.
Almost as vicous as Olbermann and Garofalo in the liberal media.
great point!! i love fox news. it is the only accurate news channel out there. and both glen beck AND ann coulter are awesome!! love’em both.

There is absolutely no doubt about this. Before anybody goes off on a tirade, I’m talking about news. There’s also no doubt that FOX is stacked with conservative commentators ALTHOUGH they never fail to have at least one credible specimen from the opposition as well.
As far as reporting what is actually going on FOX is right down the middle giving equal time and treatment to ANY story that is news. If you doubt this I invite you to witness the non stop all Kennedy all the time, lion of the senate, American icon, we will all miss him, interviews from everybody under the sun stomach turning love fest that’s been going on there the last 2 days.
They even emphasize points in the news that are relevant regardless of who it may help or hurt which they don’t have to do. Example, “best stock market rally in 60 years” which rightly or wrongly clearly helps Obama. They could just report the market, but they also emphasize that point giving it a bit of extra zing. They do that kinda stuff all the time.
That may be why they completely dominate the ratings.
