Oats Replacement?

hi guys,

I have just start the Scrawny to Brawny program and need to find an alternative to oats as I am a celiac (gluten/wheat intolerant). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be suitable and have similar nutritional value?

try quinoa

And don’t put and protein powder in your quinoa, it’s a bad idea.

sweet potato not sure does dont think they have gluten good complex carb source. Lots of nutrients.

thanks guys will give the quinoa a go

quinoa has one of the highest in percentages of protein content for whole grains.

as a bonus it’s Glycemic Index value is 36 which is very low compared to most carbohydrates

it’s fiber content is also very high

try it as a cereal/porrage replacement
I do this:

Warm up 1/2 cup in microwave
pour milk in the bowl
slice up some fruit and put on top

enjoy
quinoa in milk has a very sweet taste that’s refreshing

Oats do not contain wheat or wheat gluten. It is a totaly different grain.

A lot of farmers grow wheat and rye in alternating years with oats. Many times oats are processed in plants that process wheat products. Between these two factors, a lot of oats contain gluten. I have a huge problem with eating oatmeal because of this.

millet is also gluten free i belive
