I’m sure we have many pet owners here. I myself have a pitt/hound mix who is adorable and loving. Well being the nutrition minded individual I am, I started thinking about just what I am feeding my dog. I generally try to get one of the more expensive bags of food because it will have better ingredients etc… I have been using Bil Jac, which you can buy at petsmart.
Well after reading review after review of doog food brands online I cam across a guy who put a comment in one of the reviews. He directed the reviewer to this website. http://www.dogfoodproject.com/
Turns out a lot or most dog foods that you buy in a grocery store and even a pet store are not all that good for your dog (same for cats too). Well I have been reading up on this ladys website for a few days now and have switched to a grain free dogfood from Orijen, which I have to buy online.
But the company has a good reputation and doesn’t do any tricks with thier labels. If you care about your pets health and wellbeing, please check out the website above. It’s kinda like T-Nation for your dog.

Don’t worry. Just throw him an intruder, now and then.
I used to use Canidae, but somewhere along the line they changed something in the formula or something. All the ingrediens were the same but my dog’s stool suddenly was constantly wet, runny, and diarrhea-like.
I shopped around and decided to order a brand online – I can’t remember the brand, I’d have to look it up. It was grain free and no by products. My dog’s appetite went down and his stool was still runny.
I switched to Bil-Jac and his stool finally solidified. Everything else checks out ok, too. His coat is good and energy is high. I don’t see any problems with the food.
I know it supposedly has controversial ingredients, but my dog is ok with it. And I’m not going to keep changing food every two months to try and find the perfect food.

I view dogs like humans, what works for one might not work another. One of my mutts stopped eating his food one day unless we would put stuff in it. Picky little punk. haha
It’s $65 for 28 lbs, but it lasts almost a month because there are no filler ingredients and Titus, who weighs 95 lbs, only needs 1 1/4 cup in the AM and again in the PM.

Exactly. That’s why I laugh when someone claims “the best” food. I understand there are levels of quality of ingredients, but not every dog needs, or even will benefit from top of the line stuff.
Right now I’m more interested in finding a chew toy that will last more than two weeks with my dog. It’s ridiculous the amount of “indestructible” toys my dog has ripped through.

x100!!
Let me know when you find one :-)
Seriously.
I can, with fingers, count on one hand how many minutes it took him to shred those indestructable fire hose toys. Fuckin’ liars.

The big black beehive shaped Kong is about the most indestructible toy out there that I’ve found so far. My dogs have barely put a dent in it.

best dog food you can buy is Blue Buffalo, runner up would be Natural Choice.

i used to work at Petsmart.
Please tell me that this post was meant to be sarcastic… please…
dude it was my first job. i have some horror stories though. petsmart probaly has the worst customers on the face of planet, basically the motto is “where pets are family” so imagine the social outcasts we get who’s pets make up their “family”.
one lady came in with her dogs, im in the aisle stocking cans and her dogs are jumping all over me. im like, excuse me, can you control your dogs please. then she drops the leash and im just like, are you serious? then she says, what, do you want to rumble? swear to god. and i just walked away.
definately some of the weirdest people ive had the displeasure of encountering but there was always a couple hot chicks here and there, only downside was they usually always came with boyfriends. so glad im out of that place.

Ella (black lab) destroyed a Kong Wubba (beehive covered in neoprene with a handle for throwing in the water) in less than a week. She REALLY likes to play fetch in the water.
I even got her to swim after some geese that were hanging out in the bay. Good, stupid dog.

Ha. I just bought one. That’s what’s left of it.
