We rescued an old STB who was so malnourished and weak, he couldn’t even get up the back steps into the house.
After his diarhea had settled but he wasn’t getting any stronger, I decided to inject him with a long-acting testosterone blend.
Within a week he was literally springing onto the couch, and seemed a much happier beast. There was zero negative behavioural effect, even around our other SBT. When weighed at the vets, he had put on 3kg, not of fat.
After roughly 5 weeks I noticed another decline in his physical ability, which I confirmed with my fiancee. Since I know she would have prevaricated, I took it upon myself to once again administer a modest dose of test.
Once again, behaviour/energy was improved, within just a few days.
Now some people might consider this unethical or irresponsible, but personally I consider it a win-win situation. The dog has better quality of life and the owners get to enjoy their pet a little more.

Interesting and awesome. [/quote]
x2 but OP, maybe try the steroid forum? In general you will find more steroid knowledge there, potentially increasing your chance at a knowledgeable response to your dog question.
I also agree with the diet and exercise sentiment. Feed him real food, not the bagged or can stuff.
He’ll probably eat any kind of meat you cook for yourself, throw an extra breast or chop on the grill for him. And I’ve found with my dogs, If I blend fruits and veggies with fish oil they will eat it.
And of course adequate exercise. I’m not a dog expert but I do have some bulldogs trained to catch big game and they do well on real food and intense exercise. Never had an issue.
I guess it makes sense there could be some low T dogs though, never really thought about it.
