Nothing to Sneeze At

I’m a bit like Mainy but I have to say I have a problem with oats - I can’t have even oats and PP without it developing into an oaty binge. I think I must be sensitive to avenin (as I am to gluten, without being full-blow coeliac).

Rice and potatoes, on the other hand, I can eat without issue. I find rice pretty good for me in so far as it makes me feel satisfied (in a way that a carb free meal can never do) and also keeps my cravings for sweet crap at bay.

Like Alexus, I’m all or nothing - I’m not one of those people who can have two squares of dark chocolate to satisfy a craving. Once the packet is open, I’ll finish the bar. Same with ice cream and anything else of that nature. Only way for me not to do that is buy single servings or don’t buy it at all.

I’d suggest cold turkey on the sweeties and see what happens.

Wow! Thanks to each of you for all of your comments. The are really interesting and helpful.

I find that I am changing, a lil. I am able to just have a jelly bean of each color, or 2 squares of choc etc. Unless work is pissing me off or I’m stressed. Normally if I’m stressed, I skip my lunch break and then crave sweets. What do I do, I go get the chocolate bar instead of eating the healthy lunch i’ve made. I always go to the work fridge and notice a crap load of food that I have left in there for days…ooops.

Nimain- I agree, if you view the food as untouchable than that is all I will think about.

Mom in MD- I wil try the experiment too. Yesterday I was not spot on with diet but I was still down even more this a.m. and did not feel bloated. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

I can’t go full low carb. I turn into a demon. SERIOUSLY! and I really don’t lose like most on lc.

I am happy with carb cycling at the moment. At least gonna give it long enough to actually form a better opinion. Mothers day did throw me off a lil, don’t think alcohol is on my plan : /

Veggie- I will PM ya, would be interested in the posture info. Thanks for stoping by

Cal- I too love oats. It is depressing when I measure out 1/4 cup. I get pissed off knowing thats all I get :frowning: Then I want to put butter and a little milk. Yum!!!

Alexus - Where in Australia are you? I hate Vegemite. My husband loves it. i swear you have to be raised on the stuff to like it

Hi over here! I agree with Veggie on this one. Yep, the more often I eat sugar the MORE I want it. I have sort of an addictive personality that way. And I suspect that I don’t handle insulin well because if I sugar out I tend to feel sick. It’s easier to be a te-totaler. Unfortunately, when I do cheat, it doesn’t “get it out of my system”, it just makes it 10 times harder to stay on track the next day.

currently having breakfast (at noon. fuck you)

instant oatmeal with vanilla MD, and raspberry pie filling.

20oz coffee with milk and sugar.

having said that, you need to be able to listen to your body, and the diff between “I WANT” “I NEED” & “DO NOT WANT”

i woke up and wanted breakfast. this is what i wanted. this is what im eating.

'nother time, i may make an omlette with breakfast sausage, bacon, onions, spinach, and swiss cheese.

or i may have coffee and HOT-ROX and call it a morning.

im thinking i may agree with the other PW and suggest you just say no for awhile.

even tho i hate advising that.

i’m in the ACT but i’m a kiwi, really. was raised on vegemite, yup. can’t stand marmite.

MIA much???

Went to Malaysia and I was right, I hated the food, did not work out once, and ate mostly rice

Then, upon my return, I had to have unexpected surgery which has kept me 1. out of the gym, 2. off the diet. Overall I lost a little weight but that was not due to hard work. It has and will take me a little time to physically and emotionally recover before I can get back to 531. I am hoping to be able to do walking and stretching from tomorrow onwards. Ugh! What a crappy 2 weeks it’s been. Oh well, moving on…

ON A SIDE NOTE - since “Cold Rock” - the Aussie version of Cold stone, is crap…I have perfected my own version. A habit that must end immediately

surgery?

DO TELL!!

Sorry to hear about the surgery. Good luck on the recovery and getting back on track with the gym/diet.

I’m a little late on the carb discussion, but recently Skip (one of those online diet/contest prep coaches that actually knows his stuff) wrote about an experiment with a few of his clients where they got their carbs from junk food (low fat cookies, sugary candy, pop) rather than the normal clean sources but still hit their calories/macros. These guinea pigs seem to be getting the same results as the clean eating clients. Eating junk may not be the best thing for your health, but it sounds like it wont negatively affect your body comp if you’re still sticking to your diet.

So I am back after a several year hiatus. Geesh, has it really been this long??? I’m getting my ducks in a row and am a woman on a mission. I have found that in the past this forum has been very helpful in introducing me to people with similar goals.

While each of us come and go from the forums during different times of our life. I hope there is still space for my blog here

How has everyone been?

Welcome back.

You haven’t missed out on much.
