Good to hear you’re OK tmoney and I hope all of your friends are doing well as well.
I lost a friend at the VT shooting so I can understand what your school is going through and it’s horrible. I saw on the news today that the shooter was off his medicine so at least there seems to be a reason behind it.
How mentally unstable people are able to legally purchase firearms is beyond me. I personally think they should check your medical record as well as your police record before you can buy a gun.

Thanks CP, much appreciated. Yes, thankfully all my friends are safe. A friend of mine is a friend of a girl who was injured, but as of this afternoon, she is in stable condition and is doing very well, so that’s good to hear.
Sorry to hear about losing a friend at the VT shootings, may your friend rest in peace.
Yeah the guy was off his medicine for two weeks, and started acting radically and different, according to friends and family. He was a good student, never in trouble academically or otherwise, and made the Dean’s list once.
Yeah, I totally agree about checking medical/police records before purchasing guns. It seems too easy for anyone off the streets to purchase a gun, but that topic is for another thread.

Thanks WS4JB, much appreciated. Prayers are always welcomed.
Whereabouts in Illinois are you?
Im about 2 and a half hours south of Chicago, you ever been to the University of Illinois? My hometown is about 20 minutes away from it.
Have you heard back from all your friends yet? Everybody safe?
Yeah I’ve been to U of I’s campus in Champaign, so you are pretty close to it. Nice campus. I had a family friend that lived in Tuscola for a long time, I don’t know how close that is to you.
Yes, I’ve heard back from all my friends, and thankfully everyone is safe. I didn’t know any of the victims, but one life lost is one too many, and my prayers and thoughts go out to them.

sadly, the second valentine’s day massacre. also in Illinois strangely.
But seriously my cousin goes to NIU also and her boyfriend is in that Geology class and is a seriously nerdy kid who rarely if ever misses class and would have sat in the front row. She said the shooter came from behind the professor in the front of the class. Somehow she convinced him to skip his last class today and spend the day with her on valentine’s. not even kidding, God looking out for my cousin and you tmoney.
Oh wow, that’s scary to hear that your cousin and her boyfriend are in that class, but did not go. Good job of your cousin convincing her boyfriend to skip class. That’s very scary to think they could have been victims, but thankfully they were not. Glad they are both ok.
I didn’t know about the original Valentine’s Day Massacre, and ironically in Illinois as well.
-Campus was much more normal today. Campus was actually open for people to walk through, but all buildings and activities, including NCAA sporting events, are canceled through Sunday, and possibly even longer. Several events on Monday have been canceled as well. No word as to whether classes will resume on Monday. If they do, I don’t foresee a large amount of people attending class.
-Lot of memorials today around campus. Prayer services were held all day today around campus. Seems that the community is coming together very well, despite the sad times.
-Very somber and mellow around town and campus today. Not many smiling faces, but a lot of praying going on. Very sad time, but we’ll make it.
All this shit has gotten me worried about going to college now with all these lunatics. My teacher knew a girl that went to virginia tech the day of that shooting there. God was with her because that was a day that she decided to just not go to school and the shooting happened. She was really lucky. Why all of a sudden colleges and now getting shot up. When will this stuff just end.
I have several friends that go to NIU. One was one a bus passing as the shooting occurred and another was in Cole hall, and saw several people get shot. I know there’s no avoiding the media broadcasting it, but with every shooting on television, it just reinforces the idea in more people’s minds that this is what they should do if they’re going to kill themselves. It’s a crazy cycle
-Classes are canceled all next week and will resume Monday, February 25th. A week will be added to the end of the semester, pushing finals week and commencement back one week.
-The town is DEAD. There is almost nobody around town or on campus. Ghost town to say the least.
Thanks for everyone’s prayers and thoughts, much appreciation.
I don’t know if anyone saw this about the killer stayed at the Travelodge hotel the night before. PM if you want me some more information regarding this, would rather not share on a public forum.
tmoney1, my hat goes off to you. I really don’t know how you can handle it. I’m pretty much as far away as one can get and it just messes me up every time I think about it. I don’t think I’ve even heard a gun shot in twenty years.
It’s alway encouraging to see how people come together during such difficult times. I actually feel rather helpless being so far away but still so connected. I guess thats a side effect of cable news. I only wish there was more I could do, than just pray, to help all those who are suffering so much. God speed with the healing brother you are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong!

Thanks streamline, much appreciated. Your prayers and thoughts are definitely much appreciated. Prayers are free and heard all around the world, it means a lot to the community.
It’s definitely a ghost town, and will be the whole week, because campus won’t reopen until Monday, February 25th. I am definitely staying strong, and saying more prayers than usual.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers streamline.
