Who the fuck still wears a watch?

It is going to way of the pocket watch.

Hate pulling my phone out of my pocket or whatever. Much easier and less of an ordeal to just glance at your wrist.
I wore them for years, but they get in the way of typing on the laptop, I always had to take them off to suture or some invasive procedure.

I just got used to not wearing one.

Plus I am just busting balls, I could give two shits.

I will say that again, wear clothes and accessories for your audience, but don’t wear clothes and accessories to define WHO you are.

That reeks little pecker and mommy issues.

I absolutely love watches so I’ll start off with one of my favs. I don’t have a huge collection, but do have a few nice ones. My casual watch that I bum around in is a black Nixon Diplomat that my gf bought me that I really like. It isn’t the fanciest thing in the world, but feels appropriate for just wearing around in jeans and a tshirt. I also have a dressy Gucci, a Hamilton, and a Tissot. The Speedmaster is just a great watch and I wear it to work nearly every day. Next purchase I think will be a Breitling Airborne or a vintage Poljot.

Admit it, they limit your wrist mobility for juggling balls. Occupational hazard.

I do. Of course I am old. But I also don’t use electronics on Shabbos. I can look at it angrily when the Cantor is going long. Hence, true mechanical watches.

Yes, that’s mine. I will reluctantly out-douche SM.
YOU sir are an attorney and you are old lol

you get a pass.

See, I dont see the use either though I do know some people who are obsessed with the mechanics.

I was thinking about getting a pocket watch, but then I would need a vest and a monocle too.

You know, SexMachine, that you can always come back to PWI.

We have humour there.

And cookies.

I mentioned this in the other thread, it’s way easier and less conspicuous to casually glance at a wrist watch.

That is a beautiful watch. Thanks for sharing it with us. Very classy and stately.

I just like them so I wear one. I do agree they are easier to just glance at as well.

I like Omega as well. That watch is very nice, classic heritage, functional, classy styling.

No, but I have a leather band for precisely that reason.

This is where I’m at as well. I just like wearing a watch unless I’m in the gym or playing basketball. I really hate pulling my phone out of my pocket.

Thanks. It was a good purchase that I’ve not once regretted.

Breitling Crosswind Special

I bought this watch more than a decade ago. I actually bought right after I got laid off. I received a nice severance package from the company I was working for so I thought I might treat myself.

So when the time came to choose a watch, I did my research (online) and I pretty much narrowed it down to Tag Heuer and Omega. Although, when time came to try a few of them on, none of the Tags or Omegas gave me that grin factor.

Enter Breitling. The boutique I was in just happened to carry Rolex and Breitling as well. I remember a friend of mine saying, check out Breitling. I handled s a few of the Breitlings and one thing stood out for me, no it’s wasn’t their flashiness but their weight. They felt rather substantial in weight in comparison to the other watches I had tried.

With most of the Breitlings, I thought most of the designs I liked had very busy looking dials. As for me, that’s not really my style. I’m more of a minimalist. I like clean, well balanced design.

So as I was about to walk out, still undecided on what I wanted to go with. The person helping me says, sir, we have more in our display case, you can see them through the front of our shop. Ah, and their it was staring me, right in the face - the Breitling Crosswind Special with a black dial. It looked very impressive under the show lighting of the boutique. Naturally, I asked if I could see it and that was pretty much it. I fell in love with it right there. It had a nice balanced tri-compax chrono deisgn with the date aperture right smack dab in the middle. Nice, balanced and clean! Just what I like. Oh and another thing that did it for me was the bracelet, it’s just a really equisite design with each interlocking link nicely beveled.

Anyhow, that’s my story on how I came to buy my first nice watch.

I have very similar feelings on Breitling. I think the busy dials are cool, but not for me. I love the simplified versions like yours.

Question: your picture shows a white dial, but your story says black. Is this your second?

Comment - +10 internet points for the creativity in the Welfie.

I do love a Breitling and you picked a great looking watch. I preferred Omega a bit more, but Breitling is top notch and they do have a wow factor that I like my Gucci for. I have to say I’m finding myself wanting to pull together a vintage collection and a Breitling Navitimer would be the capstone.

They didn’t have the white in stock at the time. As much as I liked the black dial I tried on, when they showed me the catalog of the different variations I saw the white dial one and I said, that’s the one for me. I don’t know if it was BS at the time but I had to wait two months for it. The reason being, they didn’t have any white dial ones in the US. So supposedly, I got a brand new one straight from the factory in Switzerland. Which I thought was really cool since it was never handled by anyone other than the dealer I got it from.

Casio DW-5600

One of only two watches in the world to be certified by NASA for extra-vehicular space activity. Keanu Reeves wore it in Speed. Stopwatch function is nice for the gym. It’s indestructible and will last forever, and it sells for only $50.

Maybe not the best with a suit and tie, but I’m more of a t-shirt and jeans type of guy anyway.
