Who gets up in the middle of the night and drinks a protein shake or swallows some BCAAs? I was going to try this, but am trying something else for the next 6 weeks.
I think this would be a good experiment for Shugart to do in his blog thingie.

I tried that for a while in college. I have noticed no difference at all between that and simply eating well all day and not going to bed hungry. In fact, the ONLY way I could see it helping is if you have an extremely fast metabolism and you are using that time to add more calories to your already large daily caloric intake.
I don’t do that, but I can’t sleep anymore unless I chow down a burger or something before bed.
I’ve got a racing fast metabolism and it’s a nice way to add more calories.
I don’t take BCAAs but I just drink another shake similar to that of the one I drink before bed. Fatty and high in protein.
I think it helps when I do it regularly.
I don’t put any special effort into this, but a lotta times when I wake up in the middle of the night anyway I’ll eat about a half cup of cottage cheese because… it can’t hurt.
Wake, pee, drink glass of milk, back in the rack actually started this two weeks ago and helping me sleep.
Prior to bed I usually have some Metabolic Drive and well something

…and well something, what?
Do you mean some, nice, tasty pussy?
And for the record, no… I dont purposely wake up in the middle of the night to have a shake. Like others, I think an uninterrupted night of sleep outweighs the extra few grams of protein.
I do however have a Metabolic Drive shake with about 50g protein and 3 BCAA pills. If I happen to wake up in the middle of the night, I’ll gulp down a few more BCAA’s, but wont go out of my way to make a shake. I find that if I do this, and stay up out of bed for more than two or three minutes, I have a harder time falling back asleep.
BCAA’s are quick and easy.
I think the best way to do it is just before you go to bed have sex, pop some ZMA and a drink a shake and try to get uninterrupted sleep. Sleep is so important and seeing as we have a lot of students here, I know most of us don’t get enough sleep anyway.
