Have a great time. Post as you can.
Hit the river early. Already hot early morning. Checked the temp in Olongapo, Philippines and the heat index was āonlyā 101f/38.3c. Heat index was 109f/43.3c here today.
3000m swim into a 2 mile run. Took it out of me. Had to sit down to some eggs, ham, grits and tomatoes after. Felt great after.
i am guessing the humidity in PI makes for a sweaty day ?
Itās all tropical. Humidity never really drops. Sandals, shorts, light material shirts are the order of the day.
Sounds like far north Queensland. Nice

Is there such a thing as too much bacon?
Damn looking at the numbers and am dumbfounded!!!
Thanks I wonāt being lifting as much for a while so thought Iād hit it hard a few times before I leave. And I didnāt do any ROLLOUTS!
(I never do).
Swim and run day - 3000m swim. Drove to brother number 1ās palce. The far back part of his property includes a nice hill. He has his shooting range against it. Ran what I estimated to be 200m up, back down 7 times. The jarring coming down was worse than the going up. Drove back to Big Bro house to dry off (steal some of sis in laws sushi). She says āSue no otÅto (youngest brother). How come all you brothers are still crazyā? Time to relax. Hereās some pickled ginger to go with the sushi." Couldnāt come up with a good answer.
All the cardio benefits of hill running come from going up (and no joint stress!). Personally, I would (try to, lol) sprint up, and walk down as the recovery in between sprints.

Nice job on the inclines. I need to do more of these.
Good workout for a 40 year old.
That is some strong incline benching. Great job.
Thanks. The bench i had made in the Philippines is very heavy duty and adjustable at several angles for inclines. Iāve always liked doing them more on a Smith but will amke do with what Iāve got.
Iām like Jack Benny (youāre old enough to remember him). I always claim to be always 39.
Yesterday
1 hour kata (shotokan),1/2 Escrima, 15 minutes heavy bag.
Almost forgot today
2000m swim, out to bro #1 place for 8 hill runs.
Did Escrima under Rene Latosa, got to meet him several times. Always wondered, whats the difference between Kali and Escrima?
There is very little to no difference and this statement will cause heated discussions with those who learned outside the PI. Escrima is the term commonly used the Visayas regions, where my wife and her family are originally from. Arnis (Arnes de Mano) is the term more common in the Luzon regions, where we now live. Kali, the term used in the Mindanao region, is the same as both. There is a big difference on how itās taught though. Here in the U.S. many instructors are hesitant, if they even know them, to teach the blade techniques so when asked why they cover with something like "youāre thinking of Arnis or Kali. The U.S., home of āno contactā martial art!
Great explanation, thank you. I always thought it had to be something tribal. But its as you mention its so more how it taught. Makes sense.
