No Promises This Time

80f/26.66c! Shorts/TShirt displaying ghostly white legs and arms. Headed out to A&M for some throwing. Good discus session. The “good last throw” got me. That’s where you tell yourself “this is my last throw” and it turns out to be a great one. Now you just can’t stop on that. You gotta see if you can duplicated it. So you do “just a few more”. After throwing stripped of the Tshirt and ran 2400m (6 laps) on the track. Felt great out therein the sun. Suppose to rain again tomorrow so back to the gym or natatorium.

I think you can make it to 100. I’ll plan on checking in regularly until then. And if you live longer I’ll just keep checking in. :sunglasses:

Another glorious day. Grabbed my stuff and headed out to A&M for some throwing.
Shot
16# overheads x 10 (trains back to come up quickly).
*Light shot training x 15
Scoots - 15

Discus - Power position x 6
South Africans x 6
Full rotation x 18

After lunch mowed the yard. Suppose to be another good day tomorrow and turn bad again Friday night.

*(Your arm develops muscle memory and gets use to moving at a certain speed. Why can’t a man who throws a 16# shot 70’ throw an 8# 140’? Arm isn’t trained to move that fast. Light throwing gets the arm use to moving faster.) USSR used it a lot. Lot of argument on this. Mainly see overweight throwing but it works for me.

Would any of those throwing implements be good for backyard fun and entertaining? I installed an axe throwing target with a floodlight on it a couple of years ago and it has been a big hit. Looking for ways to entertain outside.

Depending on the size of the yard. Even in a large yard it takes too long to learn to make a discus fly right to make it feasible. The shotput would probably be the safest and go the least far. IF you have a place you don’t mind holes in. No man who’s ever touched a weight can walk by a shotput with out trying to throw it. A caution, “put” the shot. Throwing it like a ball can mess up the arm. For backyard fun, and egos, I’d get the lighter 4k. Probably wouldn’t need more than 40’ of space. If you do decide on the shot I can give you some sources.

Shipping was $29.50. Thanks for your help. I think it will be a fun activity. I want the kids and their families to have fun and do things that they normally wouldn’t do when they come home to visit.

Just rememebered one you might like too. Find a nice, round or semi round rock, riverstone, get several different weights depending on the age of the throwers. In the Highland Games we had to throw both a 16# (you can move) and the 22# Braemar Throw (can’t move your feet.)

Haven’t done anything over the last few days. After my last post found out a local police officer and acquaintance was killed and his partner severely wounded answering a domestic violence call. The slain officer was related to # 1 brothers wife and has been to many of our celebrations. Saturday morning we had another line of storms come through and went through a small town 6 miles from my house injuring 5 and killing 1 child. Spend most of Saturday cleaning up in the area. Spend Saturday night getting very drunk with family members and friends from the police and sheriffs department. Yesterday attended a large visitation at a local church and today a huge motorcade escorted him to Tuscaloosa where he’ll be buried. "These Things We Do, That Others May Live”. My old military motto but he earned it.
