That is one heck of a standard. I would have been disowned a long time ago.
I could probably focus on overhead press intently and never accomplish that. Might be able to push press it though⦠Just looked back and my all time overhead press 1 rep max was 165 lb. That was back in 2015 and I probably weighed 185-190 lb back then.
Harry didnāt say how you had to get it over head, just get it overhead. Even then bodyweight is still a great standard.
When I started lifting with all my brothers it was the 60ās, I was in Europe and Olympic style weight lifting was king. First lift I learned was the old style military press. Clean then press. Canāt remember my progression but I do know at 16 I weight 180 and could strict press it. Did 245 as a senior in high school. Think it was NHLFTRās college age son did 315 x 5 or so on here a few weeks ago. Over the years went as high as 350 strict weighing 220. Last time I peaked was on here when I was around 58 and cleaned and pressed 315, cleaned 335 but missed the press. Iāve trained it most of my life so itās nothing strange I āwasā good at it. Now, take legs curls and Iām about as strong as a 12 year old girl.
Still can hit a 215, weight 212, with out cheating but itās a strain. Either gotta get stronger or loose some pounds.
Finished the brakes on my truck and hit the Natatorium, got to use the lane for a full hour. Did a few 100m and 200m sprints and even a 200m breast stroke. Rest was just basic crawl. Dried, changed and did 2mile run. Rain, of course, started at the farthest point from my truck.

Ran to the dojo early, about 2.5 mile in pouring rain. Tried to kill the heavy bag for an hour or more. It survived. Ran home. Crappy as hell weather. Rain and cold. Went down to the river and actually swam out a few hundred yards and back. Posted a pretty drunken post last night and then edited it out. Wife was upset. My son in Okinawa is stood up to head to Poland. Heās got 5 tours of Iraq and Afghanistan plus every other other shithole in the world. She asked/told me āHasnāt our family done enough?. My āapoā (grandchildren) wonāt join the military.ā Had no answer. Called the brothers. Lots of nephews, great nephews all being put on alert. Thought we ended this āCold Warā shit in ā91ā. Anyway, we use to talk more personal on here and things have changed. Sorry for the seriousness. Gonna take a little bit off. Yawl keep lifting.
A newscaster on one of the national shows said he was fed up with the US response so he was leaving for Ukraine today to help Americans there. He apparently has access to weapons from what he said on the air. I actually considered that awhile,
Later I heard that old people were blocking tanks by standing in front of them, and it was working. Actually considered that too.
Keep lifting Harry and hope you and your family stay safe no matter what transpires.
Everything okay? You been missing awhile.
Iām okay. Just had to clear my head a little. Thanks for asking.
Harry, Iām am sorry to hear that you are going through a hard time. It is a truly sad and depressing time for the world, as the madman in Russia threatens all what have been achieved in terms of peace and prosperity since the end of the cold war. And only more so for those who have to see their kin go out to be in harmās way. Donāt know what to say really, it is just so fucked up.
Last few days was visited by that ole Black dog. Sure didnāt quit working out. Opposite. Ran, lots. Beat up shit in the dojo, lots. Lifted weights at 2 am and the again at 8am. Swam in a river til near hyperthermia and tried to catch those hoodoo in the forest in the middle of the night. Wife finally popped smoke and big brother Remi and all the brothers showed up. Thank god for a wife whose father fought in WWII as a guerrilla and whose brothers all chase terrorist across Mindanao. Sat, drank, talked out round the fire pit. Reminisced about papa and grand papa and told stories of old comrades. Tried to out lie each other tellin stories. Felt better. Went to say sorry to the wife and she just said, āI knowā. Anyway, came back to catch up and felt ashamed when I saw what the Bulldog was going through. So much for reality. Back to what I consider normal tomorrow. Sorry for the drama.
Thanks guy. Really appreciate it.
I understand, just happy to hear you are working through it.
Iāll pray for your sonās safety.

We will fly out of Atlanta to Seoul/Incheon, a quick 14ā 50" flight. Thing is we go through Canada, across at the Aleutians, and down the coast of Kamchatka, across Japan and to Korea. Kamchatka is part of Russia so waiting to see if this will affect our flightā¦
