8/15/11: LEGS --DEADLIFT MAX ATTEMPT–

Well, I’m never doing DL maxes the day after t-bars again. My low back was hurting even after my set at 275. Between that and my shitty energy today, I am completely shocked I hit my weight goal, if not my rep goal.

My form was complete shit on the max, by far the worst I’ve felt lifting a weight. I felt like someone was bending my lumbar over their knee trying to snap it. But… I got it up (that’s what she said). Form nazis can kindly fuck off, I knew my form was shit but I only max every 6 weeks or so, it’s bound to happen sometimes.

Workout:
(warmup) Jump Squats w/ bar, supersetted with Hang cleans (bar, 95, 135), 3 sets

A) Deadlift
225 x 3
275 x 3
325 x 3
365 x 3…this was harder than I thought
405 x 1…this was easier than I thought
–>thought about only hitting 425, and maybe I should’ve but…
435 x 1 FUCK YA (PR 30lb)

My hips started off too low, which made my lower back curve and threw everything else off. But I got it (action starts at 1:10, setup was long as hell)

Man, my progress is slowing down. Today and yesterday all I felt like was I lowered the reps on the top set to move up in weight. And the weight felt way heavier… 405x2/275x2 not too hard, 435x1/290x1 are backbreaking, makes me feel like I hardly progressed. Maybe I have hit a strength level where progress slows a bit, I dunno, but it doesn’t feel like I should be there yet. Anyway it’s kind of depressing… objectively, my progress hasn’t been as quick as my weight gain, so maybe I need to dial in my nutrition a bit. I’ve been using more cheat meals lately to make sure I don’t dip below my calorie goals, but I may be over-correcting.

Anyway, I suppose I shoulda been happier about this, but I felt like I shoulda smoked one and had 2 or 3 based on the 275x2 I hit 6-7 weeks ago. Maybe I need to up my training intensity because I’m certainly eating enough cals/protein.

Side note, I was going to take the rest of the week off from training bc my doc wants me to do this crazy ass liver cleanse and it requires 3 days of nothing but small amounts of fruit and apple juice. It sounds like a crock of shit to me but she gave me some herbal supp that totally eradicated my knee pain and allowed me to start squatting again, so she has the benefit of the doubt with me.

But… I can’t find the instructions, so I may not do it. Stay tuned.

So, I’m thinking of joining the bandwagon and starting up the mountain dog diet next week… thoughts?

It might be hard to purchase all of the necessary stuff considering I don’t own a car, but it may be worth a shot. I do love me some John Meadows, he’s a bright guy.

As far as the Mountain Dog Diet, DO IT! If nothing else, get the Virgin Coconut Oil. There are a lot of bbing supp compainies that also sell liquid coconut oil and Medium Chain Triglyceride pills, so there’s really no reason not to (some people don’t have access to whole foods and can’t get coconut oil i guess).

As far as the women situation…I’m gonna have to agree with Ct. Rockula. NEVER turn down the vag! Well, not never, but meh, close your eyes and think happy thoughts. Jump on a grenade. Take one for the team (the team being you sack). LOL!

I can metro to whole foods nearby. The only problem with that is I don’t know what times they are best stocked, I hate spending 25mins getting there and they’re all out of grass fed beef.

The good thing about VCO is I can get as much of it as I want at the crappy organic market down the street.

Haha thanks man. A year ago I thought these lifts were herculean…now I think they are beginner. That’s the blessing/curse of weight training.

Man, so much hate for not taking home a 54-year old (by her account… I think she was more like 60). I honestly think I would’ve broken her.

Job is good, I got lucky and never had to stop work. The feds found some loophole through which they were able to re-authorize the FAA and put my clients back to work while congress was still on break, so that secured me as well.

I have to say, despite my bitching about lack of progress, my upper back looks really hawt poking through my shirt in my avi.

Fuck, this liver cleanse sucks. It better cure my GI issues or I will be fucking pissed. Going from 4,500 calories/day to about 600, for three whole days…plus no working out… blows. I’ve only been awake for 6 hours of the 72-hour semi-fast and it’s torturous. I’m in a braindead slump in my chair endlessly trolling TN forums.

I’d usually be getting ready to lift about now, and it’s making me sad. Any tvix out there wanna come comfort me?

I’m allowed 3 apples and a quart of apple juice per day… oh happy joy. I’m wondering if I can protein pulse, but there is no way my doc knows what that is, better to not risk it. Sorry for rambling but my mind is kinda out of it.

Welp, I’ve dropped 8lbs in 2 days on this thing… I can’t even continue eating fully until Sunday night/Monday. The cleanse is tonight/tomorrow morning and I have to “eat light” for like 2 days AFTER I’m done this semi-fast. If my doc ever asks me to do this again I will have her stick it where the sun don’t shine. I would literally commit murder 1 for a double bacon cheeseburger from Five Guys.
