5/3/1 Week 3, Day 2 (Squats)

And now time for another edition of “Bitches Be Crazy”

So, I used to hang out with this girl a while back, and she left a Ravens jersey at my house the last time we hung out (over 2yrs ago). A couple times I’ve contacted her about getting it back (when it randomly got in my way or something) but it never happened. Last night right after I finished mauling a huge dinner - and had NO desire to go out - she calls me out of the blue, she’s at a bar 2 blocks from my house so I should bring it out.

We meet up at the bar NEXT to the one she had been in. I grab a beer as we chat, 5 minutes later her sister comes in and says “I can’t believe you left me alone in that bar with your friend.” Girl insists I go hang out with them, offers me a beer at the next bar, so I reluctantly go. I walk in and the dude that was sitting next to her storms outta the bar. I sit there super awkwardly with her sister for 5 minutes and am about to leave when they come back in. The dude, who she describes as her “best guy friend” and is clearly in love with her, is silent the entire night. Thirty minutes or so later she is trying to make out with me in full view of her sister, this guy, and the entire bar. Now she wants to hang out this weekend.

Pretty indicative of when we used to hang out, sadly. NEVER a dull moment with her for sure.

Other note - for 2 or 3 weeks my appetite has completely gone in the dumper and I have no idea why. My lunch today was half a 10oz cheeseburger patty and half a handful of nuts. It’s causing me to resort to more junk food to get my calories in which is no bueno.

Quick off-day update:

I’ve been thinking for a while of doing a PL comp in the spring. However I’m having a hard time finding one in my area, and I am giving serious consideration to doing this one two months from now: That Page has Moved or Is No Longer Available | USA Powerlifting MARYLAND

I’ll decide this week. Thoughts appreciated.

My thinking is: starting next week could get 2 full cycles of 5/3/1 for powerlifting to fit in perfectly. I would drop down to the 220 class and could stand to lose some bf anyway. I’ve thought I should wait for my squat to catch up to my other lifts before competing, but… that is dumb. There’s no reason to wait until you’re perfect to compete because there is no perfect.

Maybe it’s all the dudes competing around here lately that has me in the mood, I dunno. But everyone says how much fun it is and I love to compete. Only question is whether I have the time to prepare.

UGH what a day.

Was going to deload today and tomorrow, but after the day I had I needed to lift something heavy. Very little energy so I just did Militarys and left. Worked up to my top set 165x1, didn’t do AMAP, I needed a PR today. Moved up to 185x1 for an easy set 5lbs off my PR. Failed at 205, in retrospect it was dumb to try a 15lb PR when I had nothing in the tank. Dropped down to 195x1, crushed it for an easy 5lb PR, walked out.

Headed home to feast on a burrito, watch some hockey/baseball and possibly snore on the couch. Early bedtime tonight fa sho.

Undecided if I’ll lift tomorrow, if I do it’ll be light. 8-week meet prep starts Monday. Will be reading 5/3/1 For Powerlifting a few times during the weekend. If I don’t post tomm have a good weekend all.

As far as medical shit… to be honest I’m kinda at my wit’s end with this shit. Might get a new doc in the near future, I have spent a LOT of money to not feel any better. I keep giving her slack because she fixed my knees and allowed me to squat finally, but I’ve wasted a lot of money on other issues and have received way more questions than answers.

I haven’t felt sick at all, which ironically sucks. Have another appt in a couple weeks.

My doc does listen and has ran every blood test I’ve asked her to run. Unfortunately she is out of network and the bills are piling up. Thinking of going to the Mayo Clinic or something.

I’ll check out your log, haven’t popped in for a while.

Lifting note: Will be doing a deadlift deload workout today. Heavy singles training starts Mon.
