No Gays in Iran?

Well, let’s hope the people of Iran are smart enough to vote him out next time.

It’s not about smarts. It’s survival instinct. Just like you folks rallied around hard-liners after 9/11, Iranians do the same. If the current escalation of tension between the Washington and Tehran continues, chances are that conservatives will remain in power in Iran.

Once more, you’re evading the only point I’ve been addressing (i.e: 9-year-old marriages are exceptional and not accepted by the Iranian society). All the while, you continue to build strawmen and use non-constructive language.

  • I do believe zawaj al-muta’a is a form of legalized prostitution, and I don’t think there’s anything remotely Islamic about it. Marriage is sacred in my view, and the Iranians are making a sham out of the institution. We can probably agree on that much.

  • I have never been to Iran, but I can imagine that a third-world country whose institutions are a couple of decades old, which had a devastating war with Iraq (defensive might I add), and which is enduring harsh sanctions for enriching uranium (which it has the right to do under the NPT), is probably a dirty stinking place. Heck, you’d have a hard time finding any third world country with a decent level of urban cleanliness. That’s still no reason for you to profess your hate for the country based on that. “Hate” is not a term to be used loosely.

  • The point remains that you tried to pass the 9-year-old marriages as something widespread. I called BS. You probably weren’t aware of the efforts of feminists, youth, and other reformists because they don’t make front-page, and so I am assuming your statement was ignorant, but not malicious.

  • You do come off as a bit younger than 25. Besides a few well-known trolls, I don’t know of anyone genuinely interested in debate using expressions such as “fuck off” to make a point. I disagree whole heartedly with the views of many people around here, but we manage to keep the debate civilized.

  • I don’t see the point you are trying to make quoting the Jerusalem Post or any of your other sources. Try to state it unambiguously.[/quote]

Here we go again… Since you don’t like to listen to what people are saying.

Your initial point was that you thought that 9-year-old marriages didn’t happen (You didn’t initially start trying to defend the Iranians or say that 9-year-old marriages were abhorrent - you only started to do this when I proved to you that they do happen). I have never said they are good or bad I have only said that they occasionally happen, and this is supported by their government (when people find out the girls is nine years old nothing happens).

You say I come off as younger than 25 because I pepper my comments with the word “fuck” or one of its derivatives, well thats only because I am Australian and if you have spent much time with an Australian you will know that every second word is “fuck” or one of its derivatives. I am more than happy to prove my age. I think you dont swear because your mum wont let you.

We can both agree that the prophet Mohammed, who is worshiped and followed etc. has a 9 yr old wife (since you have read the Qur’an, there for this whole legal second wife who can be 9 years old is more Islamic than many people actually believe.

Look I know all about the war between Iran and Iraq, just because I live in Australia doesn’t make me stupid or behind the times. I am allowed to say that I hate the Country having been there on more than one occasion, Like I said I hate most of it including a lot of people so I am allowed to say I Hate the place. You may not use the word hate a lot but if I hate something I will say so. No point sugar coating it only to disappoint people in the long term.

I was aware of the efforts of feminists, youth, and other reformists because they are usually the ones that flee Iran illegally (along with the Pedophiles and other criminals), so having met them when you probably haven’t gives me the right to say the following

“As sick as it is that nine year olds get married in Iran, it still fucking happens”.

You can call bullshit all you want but you only know a little bit of the bigger picture.

Whats wrong with me quoting the Jerusalem Post? Do you hate Jews? or do you hate their newspapers?.

See now after I proved you wrong during my last post all you could do was say what you initially said and then try and get me on my age again (which I can verify by many people so don’t come at me again about it).

You still haven’t disproved what I said which is “( year olds sometimes get married for money” (for a short period of time). I want you to continue to do some research and try and prove me wrong. Even though there is a ton of evidence to say that what I have seen is more common than people like you think it is.

I bet your one of those idealistic kids who thinks he can change teh world one comment at a time.

Grow a set of balls. and realize that maybe its your English but I have asked you on many occasions to prove me wrong but you cant so just leave it. you fuck head.

A point you have proven time and time again.

Anyone hear about the protest today in Iran against their President, who they called a dictator when he addressed a college there?

Maybe the younger generation will make some waves against the hard liners in the next election, if the mullahs who rule everything let some moderates run.

Yeah, right.

Well the marriage will sometimes last only 90 minutes so you can be out in no time looking for another.

Awesome, shave the next one up and send her down.

I think Lixy finally realized that he doesn’t know what he is on about and that its a waste of time ti try and argue about something he doesn’t know about…

He probably had to buy one of those massive fuck off toblerones that you buy in airports… He he inst sinful with it.
