Let me tell you…
If Conservatives play this right; and don’t play the “Conservative Purity” Game with Haley (which they completely threw out of the window with Trump…)
The First Female President will be Conservative…

Trump supporters don’t read so she’ll have to reach them some other way.
Ah… Maggy Thatcher 2.0. Something about the Anglo culture and mom telling you simultaneously “you can do anything you set your mind to” and “clean your room”. Lmao.
Can you be a little more clear on the point you are making, @Basement_Gainz? (Serious inquiry).
Just a completely unverified archetype I’ve noticed. Women that tend to make popular conservative politicians tend to be like a tough, independent mom that maternalisticly cares about you… but also tells you to take responsibility and wash behind your ears.
Interesting.
Thanks! I’ll have to think about that one, @Basement_Gainz.
What will be interesting to see is the “balance” Haley tries to strike between say Independents and Trumpublicans. (Should she decide to OFFICIALLY run).
Would this describe Golda Meir, @Jewbacca?
(She was tough, no doubt…)
That doesn’t sound like Thatcher.
Oh, I don’t know. I was a kid when she was PM.
LOL!
Fair enough!
I hope this “Trump-Lite” phase of Haley’s is just that…a phase…
I suppose she has to show her “Trumpublican Chops” as she positions herself for 2024; but for me (and I’m sure others); it’s a little discouraging.
Yes…early…but discouraging.
If he loses in 2020 I could see a return to typical Republican rhetoric. If he wins who knows.
If he loses the Republican party will have to change. The majority of Americans align more with Democratic policies than Republican. There’s a reason why the Republicans don’t want to touch the electoral college and rigged districts. Even a shitty candidate like Hillary won the popular vote. It took a so-called republican to win the presidency, not an actual one (and again, he didn’t win the popular vote). This shows that not even republicans want republicans, otherwise Bush or Cruz would have been the candidate.
Ummmmm…let’s discuss.
Change…or change back? Can either Party do that?
The DEMS and GOP (IMO) have jumped the shark and let the extremes define their parties, don’t you think?
While I personally think that Haley can bring some “reason” to the discussion; she will not be able to ignore the Trumpublicans. If Trump is still alive in 2024; I find it doubtful that he will just “let go” of his faithful legions. And if she ran; wouldn’t Haley almost “need” his endorsement?
Also; if she didn’t seek his endorsement…Trump would surely not let it go.
A lot of “if’s”…and there is still a lot of craziness between now and 2024…but you can believe that a politician as savvy as Haley is thinking about it all.
I think Republicans wanted something different from the status quo in Washington. Whether Trump was the answer is obviously open to furious debate.
Absolutely, although IMO I see more extremes on the Dem side.
The core of the Republican party hasn’t really changed with the arrival of Trump. Republicans still have the same beliefs they always had. The only thing that’s been lost is the respectability thanks to the 3am poop tweets.
That can also be open to furious debate, @ntrojnky.
As many have brought up on this Board (like @thunderbolt23 and others); Republicans have also lost a lot of self-respect by abandoning just about anything and everything they said they stood for in the past.
@Mufasa
As a Republican I can’t think of any Republican in congress who seems extreme as compared to a traditional Republican congressman. On the Dem side you have a few off the top of my head. Bernie, AOC , thalib, omar, presley, Warren, not to mention the 2020 candidates.
Who are the extremes on the Republican side?
( Honest question not a challenge, maybe I’m blinded by bias)
But that’s my point, any Republican I’ve spoken to still has the same beliefs. Pro-life, freedom of religion, strong secure borders, adherence to the constitution, individual rights, low regulation, etc. Trump has been an advocate of all those things (although in a brash way). These things haven’t changed. The only Republicans Who oppose Trump seen to be the establishment hacks who LIKED the status quo.
We all are. We are human.
A lot of my feelings toward the current GOP, Trump and Trumpublicans is (admittedly) due to “President Obama Bias” (and I’ve admitted that).
From the Tea Party…to this supposed “Love of the Constitution”; rule of Law; executive Powers; National Debt…you name it…that were so important under President Obama, are now “well we like his policies” under Trump.
For fear of repeating myself for the millionth time…the hypocrisy is nothing short of staggering.
