Nikki Haley...for President?

The media will destroy Haley if it needs to (so far, no reason) and make her look like a bubbling fool much like any conservative leaning woman while AOC or women on the left will always be touted as highly intelligent and highly competent. A good Republican presidential candidate who is a woman could be absolutely devastating to the Dem side particularly with suburban women which Trump did horrible with. Being associated with Trump will be bad enough for her (history will not be kind to Trump), but I don’t believe a woman will be nominated on the Republican side for a very long time…and definitely not Haley.

I have an inkling that Ron Desantis will be the next GOP nominee.

Not that my predictions have been worth a shite, but I think he’s got a shot at the nomination anyway.

Fixed that for you, @heavyhitter32

As things stand now; Haley won’t make it out of the initial primaries…

Ah, come on. They definitely didn’t do that last time there was a woman on the Republican presidential ticket.

Lots of time still. Some in the GOP are wondering if they will return to some semblance of normalcy and if that’s the path to prepare the run for. The other path (Cruz Hawley etc) is to try and become loyal in the eyes of the Trump crazies and latch onto that for 2024 success.

But yeah uphill climb for any woman in the GOP naturally.

Oh, well…

Looks like Haley has now gone Full-Trump in defending him.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised since anyone with any type of Political Ambition within the GOP will need to Kiss the Ring, or they can forget about it. The GOP IS Trump’s Party…and will be in the foreseeable future.

I’m out.

Good luck to Haley and whatever her Political ambitions may be.

What has she said?

@zecarlo:

The essence of what she is pushing is two-fold.

  1. It’s been a “Witch-Hunt” from before the beginning of Trump’s Presidency, and

  2. “They” (DEMS mostly) need to “give Trump a break”.

I’m disappointed (and somewhat surprised) to hear her take these stands…but I guess it was all inevitable since she has Presidential ambitions.

Is that bad if it turns out there is a “witch.” I mean, when you look at how his presidency ended, his opponents were proven right.

I would ask her about the cop who was killed. Or his follower who was killed.

Dingdingding.

Her selling her soul started last year (to my knowledge) when she abandoned her BOD seat at Boeing when they decided to ask for a govt bailout (nevermind they never actually accepted one). She abandoned ship when the boat was taking on water so she could point at the sinking ship from shore and say “I told them so!”. Well, that ship didnt sink thanks to the captain and crew that stayed and bailed water, and she abandoned an american titan of industry in its time of need to benefit her political ambitions. That really raised my hackles.

Now, she seems to be abandoning her morals and centrist ideals in order to appeal to the MAGA masses. What the GOP stands for and acts like may have changed, but, “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”. She is a political being now- doing and saying what her advisors say polls the best instead of what she thinks is right.

This was a real disappointment to me, as I had hoped she would break the mold. I guess we will see how far down the rabbit hole she goes from here.

I would ask anyone who may know something about that! It seems no one does.

It’s an odd take. Trump spent every minute after losing the election claiming he didn’t with no evidence. Pressured Republicans at every level to change things so he could win. And culminated with helping incite domestic terrorists to come into the capitol. With evidence coming out that they may have been helped by politicians, insiders, paid for with campaign money, communicated with by people who knew where lawmakers would go.

And a few weeks after that it’s take it easy on that guy?

It’s like a woman who has been abused time and time again staying with the guy and saying he loves me and he just needs another chance.

The American titan of industry. Boeing is the largest exporter in terms of dollars.

@Aragorn

I started this thread…and on many occasions felt that in 2024, she would be what the Country needed.

No more. So you can imagine my disappointment at the direction she has decided to take.

Interesting article and according to the author, she is definitely running for President in 24’. She also torpedoed herself with the GOQP with these statements about Trump:

“He’s not going to run for federal office again,” Haley said.

“I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture,” she said, matter-of-factly. “I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.”

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” she said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”

Hopefully she is correct in those statements, and is vindicated. Ben sasse made similar statements and seems to be betting on a post Trump world.

“Time for Choosing” is not only a very appropriate name for the article…but for Republicans as a whole.

Haley is squirming as evidenced by her differing stands on Trump.

The choice is clear…but not easy…and as of 2021 (and probably beyond)… Republicans are choosing Trump.

IMO, if Trump runs he wins the primary. I don’t think he can be beat in the primary unless things change significantly in the upcoming years. I don’t think he can win another election though. That puts the Republicans in a tough spot.

I’m not so sure about that. Plus, he’s an old and unhealthy man fuelled by fast food. Who knows if he’s capable of running again.
