You know that for women “ambitious” usually carries with it at least two (if not more) assumptions along with it: 1) Ambitious=“Bitch From Hell” and 2) Ambitious= "How many guys did she blow to get where she is?
For men, it carries with it mostly positive attributes.
For clarity, wasn’t this time as CFO after being appointed that role within her family’s business?
It’s 2019, not 1950. Besides, she could say she is ambitious and explain what that means to her instead of dumbing it down and saying she’s a badass.
With that said, I find anyone getting into politics talking about being ambitious a turn off. Why the hell should I vote for someone to help them fulfill their dreams? I guess you can make even more money writing books after being president.
Say what you want about Warren and Sanders, but they don’t give off the Hillary (and Harris, Booker, Beto, etc.) vibe of having some sense of entitlement to having their destinies fulfilled. Even Biden seems to be in it not so much for himself but because the Dems need him.

You might make those assumptions. I don’t. Just because something may seem generally accepted doesn’t make it so other than inside your head. I do not associate ambitious with anything other than what it is, per se. and as usual context matters.
For clarity, what does that matter? A CFO is a CFO and carries with it the duties of such. Do you think she would be an ineffectual CFO sans nepotism?

If her career accomplishments are “lifer pol that was given a CFO title at her parents business” I’m seeing another lifer pol born into a good family.
I think when someone is appointed a high level position with no background that justifies it (look up her career, would you hire her for CFO at that point sans nepotism?) I ask myself whether or not they earned it before I start thinking BADASS.
Edit: as a fun comparison, would you say Hunter Biden is a badass? Sitting on the board of an international energy company >>>> CFO at your parents company. Seems relevant to ask whether or not Hunter deserved it

I just struggle to look at lifer pols and think “badass” in any capacity. Earning a real CFO job sans intense nepotism would have definitely helped.
I quite agree. Small business owners can make compensation surpassing all but the most unicorn of business salaries.
But having owned several, would barely allow me an interview for a location manager of a billion dollar business. Much less, sit in c suite position. CFO, in particular would require job related expertise

Perhaps but if anything I’d rather see her embrace ambitious and define what it means for her. Simply because dumbasses have “decided” that 1 and 2 are what ambitious means doesn’t make it so.
I call people ambitious who are go getters. Ones striving to improve themselves and others on a daily basis. The definition for me at least is the exact same for men and women.
Female leaders get fucked to an extent because a dedicated no nonsense male leader isn’t viewed as “bitchy” but a female who does the same thing is. That says more about society than anything. We still have a lot of double standards when it comes to women in leadership roles.

And the fact that it is now 2019 may mean things are better for women that in say the 50’s and 60’s; but it does not mean that double standards (or sexual harassment, etc.) have somehow gone away.
