I guess naming his party the “National Socialist German Workers’ Party” was a joke then?
We’ve gone over this dozens of times. But fascism and socialism are bedfellows.

Thanks, @polo77j!
You are wrong. Fascism is fascism. Socialism is socialism. I know people who lived under fascism. My family lived under fascism. It is not socialism. Regardless, Hitler was a Nazi, not a fascist. And Nazism is not a form of socialism. If you read Mein Kampf and the history of Nazism, you’ll understand why the Nazis chose the name they did. It was all a scam. Republicans call themselves conservatives, does that make them so?
Socialism/communism(in practice) features public/governnment ownership of the means of production. Government controls property and is financially responsible for it(through use of its subjects’ money).
Fascism features private ownership of the means of production with public control. Government controls the use of property but lets private citizens take the losses(and winnings…after taxes).
At least, that’s my understanding.
You can still find a bit of buzz in places about her taking the VP spot from Pence. While I think this would be a big benefit for Trump in 2020 I think if she really wants to be President the smarter thing would be waiting until 2024.
If she joins him she will become his behavior and ideas in most people’s mind and will be forced to defend that when she runs. Far easier to be in charge of her own narrative in 2024.
Assuming she indeed desires the position.
Nope
Yes you are and your post betrays your lack of knowledge on the subject. You did not read Mein Kampf, I know because I have and no one who did would post what you did. I also know you know very little about German history at the time because again, if you did, you would not have made that post. I know you have zero understanding of fascism for the same reasons. I will post a name and the only way you will know who he is, is by Googling him. You will also, if you wanted to read him, need translations, which I don’t need. That man is Giovanni Gentile. If you knew about fascism you would know who he was. But you don’t know who he was (and it won’t stop you from talking about something you are ignorant about). It’s funny how Americans who didn’t live under fascism or socialism want to tell the world what those things are.
Finally, why do people (that includes you) post links to support their arguments but don’t bother reading them? Your own link contradicts your point.
It also gives her 5 years or so to do something that will derail her aspirations.
ABSOLUTELY!
The “balancing act” (IMO) for Haley will be distancing herself from Trump…while not “really” distancing herself. (Hope that makes sense).
I’ve read Mein Kampf, The rise and fall of the Third Reich and a few other books on the subject.
Old age pensions, public schools, public works projects etc… direct quote from Hitler saying that Nazism is socialism with the slight difference being that the state owns the man and doesn’t need to own the business directly.
Fascism, Nazism and Socialism are bedfellows with more similarities than differences.
We have social security, public works projects and public schools; are we fascist or socialist?
Hitler didn’t know what socialism is. He wasn’t exactly well educated and didn’t really care about economics. He just said what he needed to in order to get the working class vote and push his real agenda which was based on nationalism and antisemiticism.
And I assume you know that he had socialists arrested.
Also, Hitler’s definition of socialism that you posted sounds a lot like don’t ask what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. Was JFK a Nazi, fascist or socialist?
Remarkable how all of these roads ending in ism, lead to the same place. Namely -that a few wise leaders sit at the top and dictate the lives of everyone else. I do not excuse unbridled Capitalism, as it does the same. Particularly in post agrarian societies, where men are more dependent on others due to specialization.
Societies by their definition, require some joint activities that allow both survival and betterment by their whole number. Thus the school, roads arguments are moot.
OT l don’t think women are hardwired to lead. Maybe a rare exception, here and there.
Just as men are not hardwired to nurture like a mother.
Sounds kind of familiar, @zecarlo…
(Where have I seen this playbook??? Ummmmm…)
You non-Progressive you! Shame on you, @treco! (lol!)
A lot of this depends on 2020. If he loses it will be easy and make sense to distance herself from his “failed” presidency (failed in the sense of rejected in 2020 election.)
If he wins all 2024 candidates will be tethered to him in a sense. Either things are going well and I will continue them or you hate Republicans because of this stuff but I will be different.
McCain’s bid showed us the difficulty of the latter. If the Republican brand is in shambles like it was then they will have a hard time winning in 2024. If it’s in good shape they may have it fairly easy.
You do realize that you can have socialist/marxists ideas in the system and that it’s okay to point that out yes? And yes the US has many marxist policies and ideas, all with predictable results.
I never made the argument that having socialist policies makes someone a Nazi. That’s a strawman you erected for reasons that make sense to you I suppose. My argument was that fascism and nazism had a great deal of socialist policies baked in. Which absolutely stands. Thanks for playing though.
Okay…
Let’s say Trump wins in 2020 (which I think he will), and Haley runs in 2024.
Does she “seek” his endorsement?
Knowing his ego…I think that if she doesn’t…she gets Tweet-Bombed like there is no tomorrow.
(Just speculating for discussion, guys. There are a lot of “ifs” in this question).
Regarding Nazism, Fascism, and Socialism.
Edited.
The US has so called socialist policies but we don’t say we are similar to fascists, Nazis or socialists. Why make a link between fascism and socialism but not our society and socialism? We have things in common with fascism yet we don’t say we have fascist policies. You are simply echoing the right wing trend to put the fascist and Nazi label on the left and liberals, along with the socialist label that was already thrown on.
Ironically, fascism was a reaction against liberalism. It was also inspired by Romanticism which is not compatible with socialism.
