What is the best meal before going to sleep? I have been trying a can of tuna and a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter- a real high protein/high fat combination.
Any thoughts?

I usually eat one half cup of cottage cheese mixed with one scoop of low carb vanilla protein powder, and either a tablespoon of flax oil or some fish oil caps.

Word on the street is that the best thing to munch on before bedtime is cottage cheese because it is a slow-digesting protein.
Best of luck

Yeah, ditto on the cottage cheese. I also slug some down topped with a scoop of protien powder. The idea is to kick off some anabolic activity with the fast absorbing proteins and then to sustain it with the slow absorbing proteins.
There’s an article around here somewhere which talks about how anabolic activity reacts to both spikes and absolute levels of protein…
Cottage sheese was the traditional choice due to slow rates of absorption but be careful if you are sensitive to dairy. Dairy foods have a high insulin index and an insulin spike before bed is not ideal. I’ve changed to a can of salmon now and a couple scoops of protein powder and some veggies.
Can I eat cottage cheese before going to bed even if Im on a cutting diet…because of the carbs it contains?
Adam, most people consume a good amout of fat w/ the cottage cheese. Couple that w/ the fact that there aren’t that many carbs in most brands(5grams/serving for ‘wet’ and 2 or less for dry) leads me to believe the insulin is a non issue, especially in healthy individuals. Our bodies are designed to deal with moderate rises in insulin after all. It is when one is chronically spiking insulin to high degrees that problems arise.

Depending on your specific diet plan, but in general yes.
