Hey guys I just wanted everyones opinion on the best Bed time protein. I have tried Muscle Milk, Synta-6 and currently using Pro complex as my before bed protein. I heard Muscle milk is the ideal bedtime protein…thoughts…opinions…?
Metabolic Drive, or anything with a slow digesting protein such as casein.
I prefer Muscle Milk, mostly because there’s about a thousand more flavors than what you get with Metabolic Drive. But, yeah, any blend with casein ought to get the job done.

Okay, what you heard is half right. Muscle Milk has the ideal bedtime protein in it, but it’s not ideal. MM has casein in it, which is slow digesting. It’s got some other stuff too, but it’s far ideal. Tastes good though…
Obviously, you want a casein-based protein. I’ve tried ON’s casein protein, which isn’t too bad, to be honest. It doesn’t mix too well, even in a blender. It’s taste is nowhere near MM’s or even ON’s rocky road flavored whey.
I can’t personally recommend Metabolic Drive because I’ve never tried it myself. However, going straight from word of mouth, I hear it’s an amazing product.
I recommend Metabolic Drive as mentioned before. If not that, then cottage cheese is slow digesting and should be ok.
Muscle Milk doesn’t contain micellar casein anymore. I know, because I bought some not too long ago because it is cheap, and was pissed to find it gone from the ingredient list, and the only casein listed was sodium caseinate(third after whey blends).
Metabolic Drive’s protein bled is far superior. Muscle Milk = Mustang, Metabolic Drive = Formula 1 car.

The second ingredient in Muscle Milk is milk protein isolate which is 80% micellar casein.
Pre-bedtime snack:
2 scoops Metabolic Drive
1/2 cup cottage cheese
(4 capsules Flameout)
Some people add a spoon of natural peanut butter or some Flameout (like I do, budget allowing) because the fat further slows the digestion overnight to prevent catabolism.
why not 2 tins of tuna + mayo, and some swigs on olive oil, fish oil, and flax oil?
how can a powder dissolved in liquid absorb slower than a fibrous dry meat?
Any protein with Casein will work.
Cottage Cheese added to any protein is also good.
Muscle Milk is great but it has a lot of fat in it. Depends on the person but I personally do not like to consume that much fat right before bedtime.
Gerdy
Hmm thanks for the feedback guys I guess micellar casein is the way to go. Some one shared a website apparently you can make your own custom protein there!
Anything casein, or just eat some cottage cheese.

You can… but you’re better off just buying Metabolic Drive. The savings do not make up for the taste…
I still have 8 pounds left of a 32 pound order of whey/casein blend… it will be a happy day when it runs out and I can order some protein that doesn’t taste like shi!t.

That’s been my reasoning as well lately. I really don’t care if I have meat or casein before bed. And if I do have the casein, I like making it into a thick pudding by simply adding a little water and stirring it. Adding melted PB helps too.

it’s just a lot easier to down a shake as you lay in bed rather than chomping on some chicken.
btw- I like the fat in MM to help slow down digestion.

Well to me honestly taste doesn??t matter to me as much as nutrient content. But is it really that bad?

I used to say the exact same thing, but after drinking protein shakes with chunks in them for 4+ months, you start to care an awful lot.
To be fair, the first couple of times I ordered small batches of 4 pounds or so, they were pretty OK. In fact, my first batch of premium strawberrys’n’cream flavour micellar casein tasted like candy. When I ordered my 32lb batch, though, the flavour was a little more bitter and the texture was terrible, and my girlfriend noticed the same thing on a small order from about the same time. So maybe it was just one bad shipment (the explanation given in the forums), or maybe they changed suppliers, I really don’t know.
It is a pretty significant (like 40%) discount over Metabolic Drive, but I don’t like playing russian roulette with my protein shakes.

Because once casein hits stomach acid it turns into a viscous solid similar to glue. Actually, lots of glue companies use calcium caseinate
