Night Sweats Fixed

Hi all,

Been a few months since I posted on here. As some may recall I had the symptoms of low T and high E2 as many of you. Night sweats, lethargy, several urinations at night, not putting on the muscle, etc. Labs were in the low T and high E2 but still within “range” so my Kaiser doc said things were fine. Went through several docs to no avail. I finally went to Dr. Kryger in Monterey Calif. About 150 miles south of me.

He does an exam like all the others but says “The reason you fell like shit is because I think you have an infection in your right testicle.”!!! Gives me a presciption for Levaquin, an expensive but very effective, antibiotic. 14 tablets set me back over $200.00 and no generic.

Two weeks later I’m feeling almost like a new man. Sleeping fine, no getting up at night to pee, lethargy is gone. I’d been to urologists, endos as well as my family practitioner and none of them caught it. Could have lead to cancer if left untreated for a few years more.

Go back for another exam and he says he thinks there’s still a bit of infection but writes a script to give to my Kaiser doc to save money. Kaiser doesn’t use Levaquin so I get a course of Cipro, stuff they use against anthrax. Ten days on that and it sucked. That stuff knocked me on my butt. But now, a month later, life is back to being good.

We’re still pursuing testosterone replacement and I’m waiting for my labs to see what my hormones are post anti-biotic.

I’m just adding this in case some of you who, like me, assumed that your symptoms could only come from low T and high E.

WOW, this is a first.

Can you explain what the symptoms were that the doc worked from? Pain in the testes? Swelling? Warmth?

This could have led to or come from prostatitis.

FirePig, that is my doctor too, what do you think of him??

Hi KSman,

My symptoms were swelling and tenderness on physical exam of the right testes. Very very very tender. Been that way for years. Background is that I am a DES (diethylstilbestrol) child. Had undescended left testicle that was sugically brought down when I was ten. I also wound up in the ER a bit over 30 years ago with an epididymitis on the right testicle. (You’ve never experienced real pain until you get one of these.) I was given ampicillan and within two days discovered I was allergic to penicillans. Switched to a course of tetracyclin and thought it was cleared up.

So I had the background for this. Just that I had been so used to it I, and my regular doc, just took it for normal with me. Now why the other docs I went to who had no background with me didn’t catch it I don’t know. Especially the urologist. Maybe because I went in specifically looking for TRT?

It wasn’t until I wandered into this forum many months ago and read the thread on E2 that I thought some of my other symptoms were hormonal. So down this path I went.

I’m glad I kept shopping docs. If I had just gone the hormone route I’d probably just be getting worse. Now having said that I’m pretty dang sure I still need to boost my T. This has been an interesting and very educational and ongoing journey.

Dr Kryger is an interesting character. Very straightforward and seems to know a lot. We’ll see how he does with the next part(s) of the problem.

FirePig,

How expensive is he? I’m in the Bay Area, and am also with Kaiser. They are pretty worthless.

I’ve been thinking about making the drive to see Dr Kryger.

Dan

Custard,

If you’re used to the $15.00 co-pay at Kaiser you’re going to be in for a really rude shock. It’s expensive! I’ve spent over $600.00 so far and that’s not including the antibiotics. On the other hand he’s the first one I’ve gone to that caught something seriously wrong with me. So as far as I’m concerned it’s been worth every cent. (I guess I could have used the money to buy more farkles for my motorcycle but at least I’m going to be around to ride.)

Here’s his website for more info: http://www.wellnessmd.com/index.html

Good luck.

Dan, I have blue cross and they pay 90%, so he is not expensive to me. If you need his number, its on the internet, under Dr. Kryger…
