Abu Musab Zarqawi is blamed for killing Nick Berg.
This article says that the Bush administration turned down three different chances to kill Zarqawi, who was a known terrorist. The Bush team was more concerned with developing their plans for regime change in Iraq than they were with going after Al Qaeda.
The Bush White House took their eye off of fighting Al Qaeda, in order to send us on a wild goose chase for WMD in Iraq.
I’ve seen the images off of Michael Savage’s website, and it was good enough for me. I don’t think that I could watch the video because of the screaming. It would be too painful for me.
It’s really sad, and I do have sypathy for Berg’s parents. What upsets me the most was he wasn’t even a soldier.
I don’t care how “idiotic” people may think what I’m about to say is but if the US ever captures those scumbags then I say it should be an eye for an eye each and evy one of the terrorists who had a hand in Nick Berg’s beheading should have there head’s cut off it is the only fitting punishment!
But then its clear you haven’t read the Bible. Its that document that a lot of rednecks pound on when looking for retribution. Eye for and Eye means something entirely different. “Why are you trying to remove the splinter from a man’s eye when you cannot see the plank in your own?”. It has to do with ignorant thinking. When someone points out pre-emptive strikes in the Bible I’ll start believing in our fearless leader. At least fearless until it comes time to actually serve.
Reign… It is religion. That is the problem here. Religion is the worst invention of humanity ever. You can feel the spirit of Christ in you (or whatever it is) just like anyone can feel the spirit of their spiritual leader. Killing is a response to killing.

I have to say that I have seen all of the Faces of Death and Traces of Death videos in the past. I guess out of some type of morbid curiosity I dug into those type of movies when I was younger because I was fascinated with death. No, I am not some Goth person who paints my face white and wears all black. These videos didn’t seem real to me and didn’t really bother me. However, when i viewed the unedited version of this horrific crime I was literally sick to my stomach. Maybe it is because that i have a family now and have a son and put my self in his familys shoes. my personal opinion? We should send some black-ops in. Positively identify who was responsible for this crime. Dismember THEIR family members and mail the pieces to them. Its time to get medieval on them with an “eye for an eye”. i know this is just wishfull thinking and that our government would never do anything like this but damnt, they should.

I guess the overall point is to say that we are no better than they are. If people can accept that then the decisions that are made to deal with these problems will be as good as possible. Iraq is a bullshit sham. Afghanistan was and still is worthwhile. Iraq was personal… it had nothing to do with the protection of this country or its people.
Jamie: We need to do just the opposite. We need to stop supporting Isreal and we need to leave. That is the only thing that will stop what is happening. If we as a nation can weather the violence then we’ve got a good police force there to ensure that the region eventually complies and joins the rest of us. What do we need? A police force for everyone or just to leave people to their own problems? Bosnia was a success. Perhaps Iraq can be a success too. I am doubtful of this right now but its possible.

We are going to leave Iraq. We are going to nationalize their oil, so that the poorest citizen can benefit from the riches that belonged to tyrants. We don’t decapitate people. We don’t lynch their bodies on TV. We makes mistakes, but we are better.

I agree with Lucid, we need to stop supporting Israel. Everything bad that is happening now is a direct result of the U.S.'s support of Israel. We just need to leave that entire area.

I think our society has become rather sterile in regards to war, maybe as a fault of movie’s and video games of our day. Third world countries around the world are very familiar with death in their streets, ask those of rowanda, or the serbs, only in America would such an act shock us so.
Of course the images of Nicholas Berg are brutal, the MP’s treatment of detainees in Abu Gharib disapointing, and the overall loss of life-both civilian and military- unfortunate; BUT, it is a fact of war that such things happen. To think that these actions haven’t taken place before is to be ignorant to the fact that media coverage of this war, as well as the new technological mediums have given those viewing from afar a much more indepth look than ever before.
It sucks that people are dying, that fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, sons, and daughters all are sacrificing their lives so far from home, that independant contractors are beheaded by those seeking to weaken our resolve-war is not something to be entered into lightly, but once we are committed it would be foolish to seek to pull out early or let them see us falter or question ourselves.
both of the headlining events of the past two weeks(Berg and the detainees) have had the media and others questioning the actions of our military and it’s leadership. It’s a great thing that this is a democracy and one of our many rights is freedom of speech, but we must not let our enemies weaken us by dividing us.

since movie was mentioned, i watched USA network earlier this week and they had that Denzel movie, The Siege, on and it was in theaters before 9/11 right? Funny how NYC is a target for muslim world and how terrorist migrant characters in that movie got in the US same as those who flew the planes. Also the w/o prejudice type of actions done by military in that movie seem similar to what we’ve seen during the past few weeks and more. I know it’s just a movie, but it feels too similar.
In reaction to the Berg incident- that totally sucks. In viewing the video on the news and uncensored from here I noticed some interesting things. I enlisted help from some friends of mine for second opinions. The ‘captors’ are not built like middle eastern muslims, rather more like Americans. broad shoulders, tall, in formation by height, thick in the middle- hell looks like a clan mini-rally. their speech was, imo, very haole-fied or white. in other words the accent wasn’t genuine. I had to get a second opinion so I had some friends who go to the local mosque here to help me out with this. they too made a distinction of the whitened accent. the rapid response of this video footage in retaliation of the abuse of iraqi prisoners was very rapid indeed. I wouldn’t think at all that such an area who just got PSX 2 and XBox could be so tech-savvy to have video footage ready (just like that). Also how in the video it goes close-up in the “struggle” to where you cannot tell who is what then back to a head being cut off. I’ve cut off a goat’s head, a ram’s head, a boar’s head, and a deer’s head. Even those look more realistic than the human decap. Also the way the young man appeared to be decapped was very bad for even a militant group. Then again they probably spent all their monies on the video equipment to get this on tvs everywhere, rather than spend it on some excellent machete’.
Someone was killed. I cannot say that it was an American counter measure to the abuse situation to win back public support or if it was legit. All I can say is that there are many who are going to vote for this to continue. And the EMF is still weakening, so that is why GWB wants to go to the moon. rofl
