I am O+

I’m O as well.

That’s interesting as i would have thought that being an O (Primitive blood type) that you would not have issues clearing any types of fats, especially animal fats, based on some of the documentation. This actually lines up with my personal experience and conflicts with some of my understanding of the documented research. I obviously am prone to having issues with LDL if I have a high saturated fat intake.

I’ve not done the genetic testing yet, but it’s on my radar.

I found that my body responds quite well to eliminating high GI carbs from the diet, unless I time them properly around activity. Other than that, I have to keep everything low GI or I’ll start storing like crazy, and have issues with water retention. If I cut carbs altogether, I start getting weak after about 4 weeks and noticeably lose muscle mass. I feel the mental clarity that people associate with keto, but I also feel that with mostly low GI carbs and lean meat selections, along with a good amount of green leafy veggies…

Well I was breast fed as a child BUT my mother smoked and drank through pregnancies and during breastfeeding times. I blame her for all of my genetic mutations. My father was also an alcoholic when I was conceived so I can thank him for some fucked DNA as well LOL. I read recently that you pass on your genetics of your body at the time of conception. Fat fuck? Then your kids may be. Lean and mean? Then your kids probably will be.

All I am saying is I may not be your typical O+ type of person. I also have genetically high platelets which is great for donations and I dont convert the sun to Vitamin D. These are just the big ones.

Do you have to keep a ā€œcloser than normalā€ eye on HCT because of this?

I’m not sure about my Vit D conversion… I was low enough that my doc wanted me to supplement, BUT I also live in Montana, and we don’t see the sun for long periods of time throughout the year…

I started breastfeeding at a very early age, but it had nothing to do with nourishment…at least not dietary anyways! lol

I do know that my mom didn’t smoke or do drugs/drink alcohol…but my dad was the poster boy for the white trash group, as was most of my family. Given my dad’s lifestyle, he should have been a VERY fat fuck, but I guess we are lucky genetically speaking. My dad was always naturally very muscular and all of his fat was concentrated just at the waist (the same way mine does when I eat like shit and get lazy).

Not that it didn’t take a toll on his body though…he died at a very young age due to heart issues. He had a ton of problems that you wouldn’t know by looking at him. That lifestyle doesn’t come without consequences…

Did you get any other info from your genetic testing besides diet related?

My doc has wanted me to do the ancestry or 23andMe to see if I have a ā€œwarriorā€ gene due to me telling him I’ve always had a short temper. Says he has it himself and with certain vitamins can keep it in check. Curious if you were able to gleam any info like that from the testing you did.

On the contrary it seems. Even at TT of 2000 and FT @ 457.5 pg/mL my HCT was at 43.6.

23andme doenst tell you about the warrior gene and neither dose the other one I ran my data through at foundmyfitness with Dr. Rhonda Patrick. I havent yet run it through Promethease but I believe they give you that data. Foundmyfitness is mostly metabolism and longevity.

Some of the SNPs included affect the bioavailability and metabolism of micronutrients including vitamins D, C, B12, A, folate, omega-3, iron and
more. This report looks at SNPs that can influence metabolism including the response to various types of fat (saturated fat, polyunsaturated fat,
monounsaturated fat) and carbohydrates (i.e. complex carbohydrates vs. simple carbohydrates), which may influence blood pressure, blood
glucose levels, circulating LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, obesity, cardiovascular risk, and more. It also focuses on SNPs relevant to cholesterol
metabolism and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors such as statins. It looks at certain SNPs involved in the inactivation of heterocyclic amines which are
procarcinogens formed when meat is cooked at high temperatures. It looks at SNPs involved in exercise performance, sleep, and those that can
have a direct or indirect influence on longevity.

Thank you for that info. I think I’m going to look into getting both then if thats the case. The diet makes sense but I’m not too sure about warrior gene stuff. Sounds a little woo-woo to me, but worth a shot. I believe he said it was only $10 to get that info after getting the dna results from ancestry or 23.

Im running promethease right now and it was free. 28 minutes until report is ready.

WHOOP!

1.5x~2.7x more likely to live to 100. This is the best version of the well known longevity gene FOXO3. It greatly improves the odds of living to 100. It seems to improve insulin sensitivity, and reduce oxidative stress, among other things.

Been quite on here lately… How is everybody doing?

Ive been posting in other logs but not much in mine. Recently quit booze and I feel rejuvenated and giddy at the prospects that the next couple years (and beyond) will bring me. I recently turned 48 so this was my gift to myself. I expect some hormone shifts too. I went three months earlier this year and noticed comp changes and strength gains but I was really just testing the water. In hind site I should have just kept off of it but I wasn’t ready yet. I needed to fail reinstating booze to show myself it was time.

One thing I do remember from when I quit for those 3 months was the hunger…well its back. Wake up ravenous and metabolism is cranked up. I guess when you deny your body all those extra nightly booze calories it has a bit of a fit.

How have you been @alldayeveryday? Still cutting carbs?

Glad to here you dropped the alcohol. Its just poison plain and simple. I’m still staying strong on keto. Its been great for me. Its not easy finding food but manageable. I look at carbs/sugar as poison now. It helps to say no to all the delisious foods I cant have lol.

Yes booze is a poison was the mindset that finally convinced me. I was also convinced that it literally does nothing good for you so… buh bye… time to REALLY recomp this middle aged body and give myself a fighting chance. Time to stop being a hypocrite and REALLY focus on my health, mental and physical.

Im glad you’ve found something that works SO great for you. Really awesome. Strength is still up? I’ve heard thats been an issue for some.

@NH_Watts. Good job man!

Thanks dude. I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off of my life.

Congrats!! Just dropping those empty calories alone should give you a boost with Body Comp

Ive noticed a slight decrease in strength. Nothing crazy. I went from hitting 225 on bench for 17 reps and now hitting it for 15. Nothing crazy. I’m lifting alone at the house now so I’m not trying to put up 335 lbs again
