No they are worse. As long as they have that ass clown pulling the strings they a 6 -10 season will be a success. Ryan cannot coach offense, he has no control over his players, his on field decisions are beyond idiotic, there is no unity in the locker room, there is no discipline on the team. They will lose and lose hard and often.

3) Bills and Fins will still be threats to go 1-1 inter-division, but shouldn’t challenge outside of the wildcard.

So Pats make the playoffs, but lose in them again.
I wouldn’t mind it, but Tebow would have to play something in addition to back-up QB. Maybe work him on being a TE or FB or something.
What sucks is all the drama is media made and why? Because he is an out spoken religious guy. If he was gay, he’d be celebrated and there would be an outrage at the Jets for the way they dealt with him, but because he is religious, he is lambasted. I guarantee that the hate /love line for Tebow is directly related to his religious leanings and has nothing to do with him as an athlete or a football player.
In his body of work in the NFL, when called upon to do his job and not be a circus draw, he was successful. It wasn’t always pretty, but he won games. People talk about the offensive line and defense in Denver making plays… Duh they are fucking supposed to, aren’t they? And that same offense and defense couldn’t win with Orton.
The guys deserves a shot somewhere where he is respected as a man and a player, something he did not have in NY. He is too damn talented to be gone from the NFL. If that lard ass Jamarcus Russel gets another shot over Tebow, something is wrong.
He’s proven he can win in the NFL and deserves a shot at doing that.

I disagree with going to the Patriots as some have suggested. Brady will not give up a single down to run a read-option. Second, the read-option is only successful if you don’t know it’s coming. If you put in a guy who only runs a read-option you can set your defense.

I do like the Eagles idea. I guess we will see what happens. I don’t think Chicago is the place. I think a place with a new coach and a new system is being implemented is the best option. Trying to fit a new foot in an old shoe isn’t really going to work.

Im not a huge fan of Tebow but I like the guy. And Ill say this. The Jets fucked this previous season and possibly damaged his career. They made promises that he would see a decent amount of playing time behind the ball and that promise wasnt kept. When the season went in the gutter, he should of been able to play at least a quarter or so. Didnt happen. I do hope he gets a chance with someone else.

They are good for sure, I don’t know about another appearance in the Superbowl but a deep playoff run should be in the books. Defensively they could be tops again, but I don’t know who Flacco is going to throw to besides Torrey Smith, Pitta, and Rice out of the backfield. I don’t think Smith + Jacoby Jones is a good WR corps.
You hit the nail on the head I think. I think Smith is going to be great in another year or two. I like Jones, but I agree he’s not a great #2. I’d like to see more 2 TE formations. Pitta and Dixon can both be good. They both, more so Dixon than Pitta, need to work on consistancy. Rice needs to be more involved in the pass game this year for sure. The new FB they picked up can supposedly play TE as well or act as a TE anyway.

Hey Derek! Whaddya think of this comment from RG3? I don’t know how I’d feel if I were a Cowgirls fan after hearing this. Actually, I do know how I’d feel. I’d feel infuriated, but I’m not sure at who, Griffin III or Jerry Jones. Probably Jones more than RG3, since Jones is the one driving a once-proud franchise into the ground.

I figure that Jones will run the team until he’s dead and that he’s probably got at least another ten years in him, maybe even 20 years. So the way I look at it, Derek, MAYBE the Cowgirls will be good again before you’re dead. Maybe. I’m sure this period of futility and apathy is knocking years off your life. The Niners sure knocked a few off the back end of mine last decade.

Not upset with RG3, he is doing what he needs to as the QB and well fuck its not like he lied.

JJ has and will continue to fuck us into mediocrity, and what is frustrating is not a damn thing Cowboys fans can do about. No I will not change teams. Like I have said many times, I am a NFL fan first and foremost, I enjoy the game. I just have emotional ties to the Boys so it ruins my week which averages out to every other week with their continued 8-8 seasons.

I am 40 so I have a good 40 years left of being a fan, I just pray for a stroke or MI for JJ.

Just worried that his son my follow in his footsteps.

Even I was like “dayum, RG3” when I saw that. But then I laughed b/c it was true

Yeah, JJ is the weak link on what potentially could be a premier team. I kinda feel bad for them because JJ is the elephant in the room. Everybody looks like “Dude what the fuck are you doing?” but nobody can say shit.
That’s the worst position for any franchise to be in, when you have a king and dictator, you cannot say anything but you know what you need and can’t do a damn thing about it. If he would just eat a little humble pie and get a real GM, they would be on there way. They have load of talent, they are just few linemen away from kicking ass.

They cleaned out a lot of peices of their lockerroom, and players love Rex…

They will be a decent team that could sneak into the playoffs.

As long as Sanchez is the QB and they have no legitimate weapons on offense, they’ll be perpetual cellar-dwellers.

I’m going to heavily disagree with this (Jet’s “sneaking” into the playoffs).

First of all, let’s be honest: They won’t win the division. I’m sure you believe that as well, so I assume you think they might get a wild card spot. Not happening.

Of the two wild card spots, you can be assured the Jet’s will have a worse record than the majority, if not all AFC playoff contenders.

In no particular order, just going down the AFC list, the following teams should be playoff contenders:

Pats
Broncos
Ravens
Bengals
Steelers
Texans
Colts

That’s my opinion of the legitimate AFC playoff contender list. If I had to add two more teams, I’d probably pick the Dolphins (if Tannehill can take the next step) and Chiefs.

The Jets? I can’t see them getting into the playoffs under any scenario other than Geno Smith literally having an All-Pro season.

  1. This is a quarterback driven league. It is, by far, the most important position in the game by far. Mark Sanchez has proven he cannot win nor be anywhere near consistent. His career QB rating is a dismal 71.7. That doesn’t even qualify for backup status in the NFL. Geno Smith is an untested commodity and will be a rookie. While many rookies have led their team to the playoffs (Luck, RG3, etc), it will be that much harder for Smith to do it with the surrounding cast.
  2. RB’s. I like Chris Ivory and to a much lesser degree Mike Goodson, but I can’t see them reproducing 4.5+ yards per rush on a team with no passing game and when consistently given the rock.
  3. The Jet’s recieving core is unproven and lacks depth. I think at best Santanio Holmes is a number 2 reciever. I’ll give him credit for his lack of production in NY because he was being thrown to from one of the worst starting QB’s in the league, but I don’t think he’s a gamechanger one bit. Behind homes you have Kerley and Hill. Kerley can be an effective slot guy, a good #2 inside guy. Hill? Not sold. He doesn’t separate nor effectively use his large frame to out muscle the ball from opponents. Behind those three? God help the Jets…
  4. TE’s? Good luck. Cumberland is more of a blocker than a passer. I understand they couldn’t keep Keller because of their salary cap situation, but this TE group is downright bad from a receiving standpoint.
  5. Left tackle to center the Jets are set. This is a very strong starting part of the line. RG/RT the line is unproven, however. Could be an issue going forward.

I agree. The Jets may go into this coming season with the least amount of talent.

I guess we will see, but I’m not sleeping on the Jets. I would advise other teams not too either.

I was going to add KC and MIA to your list and then u already did

Also that CIN looks very very nice on paper, as well

Under what premise? Besides an rookie QB who slipped in the draft and getting Holmes back, how much has their offense really improved?

Not so shocking stat: Of their six wins in 2012, only one was against a team with a record of .500 or better. One.

Defensively, while the draft might have bolstered their line and backfield, they still lost two defensive line starters and I believe 2 secondary starters as well.

This is a team, realistically, that has no shot at NE. Past that, I’d even rank the Dolphins ahead of them.

The Benagls do look very good on paper. If Andy Dalton can produce somewhere in the 4,000+ yard/28+ TD/under 12 INT range, I think they will take the AFC North. The Steelers are paralyzed by their cap situaiton (which won’t last but another year or two) and the Ravens had to lose a lot of talent to pay Flacco… The North is ripe for the taking.

I think Sanchize is better than last year, and I think people are under rating their D drastically.

Assuming Brady stays healthy they won’t beat the Pats, no. But I’m not going to sit here and crown a champ or call a chump based on paper.

All I’m saying is I don’t buy the narrative they are this horrid abomination of a team everyone likes to call them.

You think Sanchez is better than last year? No sarcasm, WHY?

He’s been benched more than once, has 62 games under his belt, and for his career he has one more interception than touchdown. His highest pass rating was 78.2, and that came in the 2011 season. In 1,867 pass attempts, he has shown that at best, he is a backup QB if that. His single season completion percentage has never above 56.7%.

He isn’t just bad, he is horrible. Sanchez has been given more opportunities in the past four season, by far, than any other QB with the same performance probably in the last 10 years.

No one is calling the Jets chumps based on paper. They are calling the Jets chumps based on their performance, or lack thereof in the last two season and horrible QB play in the last four seasons.

Their defense? Probably slightly underated at this stage based on how often they were on the field last season, but the only person who is defining them based on “paper” is yourself with bloated expectations (of which no one else has seen this “paper”).

I mean nothing against you personally, but surely what factual evidence can you provide that the Jets will even begin to compete for a wild card spot this year?
